Truck Driver

Responsibilities:

Operate company trucks safely and responsibly to transport goods, materials, and equipment. Load, secure, transport, and unload cargo while ensuring goods are properly protected. Conduct daily pre-trip and post-trip inspections of the truck. Check tyres, brakes, engine oil, coolant, lights, battery, and other essential vehicle components. Report mechanical faults, damage, or maintenance requirements promptly. Follow assigned routes, delivery schedules, and traffic regulations. Ensure goods are delivered to the correct locations within the agreed timelines. Verify delivery documents, invoices, waybills, and other transportation records. Maintain accurate records of trips, fuel consumption, mileage, deliveries, and vehicle maintenance. Ensure the security and safety of company property and cargo during transportation. Assist with loading and unloading activities when required. Maintain the truck in a clean and roadworthy condition. Observe all company policies and road safety regulations. Communicate with dispatchers, supervisors, customers, and other relevant personnel regarding deliveries and route issues. Handle unexpected situations such as traffic delays, vehicle breakdowns, or route changes professionally. Ensure all required vehicle and driver documents are valid and available. Perform other driving and transportation duties assigned by management.

Requirements:

Minimum of SSCE/WAEC or equivalent. Proven years of proven experience as a truck or heavy-duty vehicle driver. Valid Nigerian driver's licence appropriate for the class of truck being operated. Strong knowledge of Nigerian roads, traffic regulations, and safe driving practices. Experience driving heavy-duty trucks is required. Good knowledge of basic vehicle inspection and maintenance. Ability to read and understand delivery documents and waybills. Strong sense of responsibility, punctuality, and reliability. Good communication and interpersonal skills. Ability to work long hours, weekends, or overnight trips when required. Physically fit and capable of assisting with loading and unloading when necessary. Clean driving record and strong commitment to road safety. Experience with specific truck brands or long-distance haulage is an added advantage.
