KBR is looking for a senior engineer, structural (civils) with onshore site project experience in mega EPC projects to be based in Abu Dhabi for a PMC project.

Job purpose

Provide operations technical support related to structural engineering for day-to-day issues for UZ facilities, troubleshooting exercises, identifying structural adequacy issues, and interfacing with various stakeholders in the company to provide effective engineering and operation solutions that support field operations without compromising HSE and integrity.

Key accountabilities

Job specific accountabilities

Provide day-to-day technical support to site operations for various technical queries impacting plant operations.

Provide technical support to analyse operations problems and identify troubleshooting requirements.

Provide technical support to conduct production performance and field tests (within design limits), analyse plant and equipment capacity, performance, and identify bottlenecks, enhancement opportunities, and mitigation measures.

Provide technical support for all asset managed maintenance activities like refurbishment and like-for-like replacement.

Follow up progress of all studies and projects sent to CED. Participate in various engineering reviews and workshops for those studies and projects.

Lead and finalise structural adequacy concerns due to additional facilities (within design limits).

Provide technical support for interface related to all shared facilities like utilities for new projects and studies.

Provide technical support for conducting incident investigations, audits, and surveys followed by follow-up of recommended actions and their implementation.

Provide technical support for review and approval of documents for purchase of equipment or PR items by asset (not requiring engineering package).

Provide technical support, inputs, and participation in workshops to review asset replacement plans, short-term and long-term facility development plans, etc.

Provide technical support during site implementation for minor works (site schemes) managed by asset.

Participate along with team leader in development, monitoring, and updating of various plans.

Provide input and participation in HAZID, QRA, TRA, SBRA, BRA, and other safety studies including minor works managed by asset.

Carry out management of plant modification requests (PMR) and engineering work requests (EWR) in HQ including initial screening, prioritizing, tracking, review, and interfacing with CED including final close-out based on as-built and support during implementation. Review and approve temporary PMRs in coordination with central engineering division.

Input or develop business case or statement of requirement deemed appropriate for new requirements based on optimization opportunity, change of operation philosophy, audit actions, risk register, etc., related to engineering issues.

Coordinate with PSD for cost estimation for facility modification, enhancement, and structural discipline.

Provide necessary input for the development of project economic acceptability criteria, carrying out fitness-for-purpose studies for existing facilities in conjunction with CED and AID by means of structural analyses, calculations, engineering judgment, etc. Review and endorse any engineering changes with respect to structural discipline and provide input for other disciplines.

Coordinate with CED in establishing corporate engineering standards and procedures for structural discipline. Participate in the development of engineering standards and procedures for structural discipline.

Generic accountabilities

Supervision: Plan, supervise, and coordinate all activities in the assigned area to meet functional objectives. Train and develop the assigned staff on relevant skills to enable them to become proficient on the job and deliver the respective section objectives.

Budgets: Provide input for preparation of the section/department budgets and assist in the implementation of the approved budget and work plans to deliver section objectives. Investigate and highlight any significant variances to support effective performance and cost control.

Policies, systems, processes and procedures: Implement approved section/department policies, processes, systems, standards, and procedures in order to support execution of the section’s/department work programs in line with company and international standards.

Performance management: Contribute to the achievement of the approved performance objectives for the section/department in line with the company performance framework.

Innovation and continuous improvement: Design and implement new tools and techniques to improve the quality and efficiency of operational processes. Identify improvements in internal processes against best practices in pursuit of greater efficiency in line with ISO standards in order to define intelligent solutions for issues confronting the function.

Health, safety, environment (HSE) and sustainability: Comply with relevant HSE policies, procedures and controls and applicable legislation and sustainability guidelines in line with international standards, best practices, and ADNOC code of practices.

Reports: Provide inputs to prepare section MIS and progress reports for company management.

Communications and working relationships

Internal

Daily contact with site teams for exchange of information related to day-to-day operation and other issues.

Regular site visits to liaise with site teams for various operations issues, follow up on studies, PMR, WR, and other ongoing issues.

Regular contact with CED focal point for follow-up of various engineering packages.

Coordinate with ID, HSE, and OS team of other assets for troubleshooting and debottlenecking issues to improve facility operations at site.

Regular contact with major maintenance team, shutdown and campaign team, production, and reservoir team for technical support.

Qualifications, experience, knowledge and skills

Minimum qualification

Bachelor degree in civil or structural engineering or equivalent.

Minimum experience, knowledge and skills

15 years of experience, including at least 5 years in oil and gas field. Experience in plant design is essential.

Should be capable of producing reports based on field trials, troubleshooting exercises, and preparing business cases.

Interpersonal skills to successfully manage and interface with people from site operations to various stakeholders in the company.
