KBR Abu Dhabi PMC Team is currently looking to fill a position of Lead Process Engineer for an offshore island project to be based in UAE (Abu Dhabi) as soon as the administrative processes are completed, will then relocate to Spain office and then return to Abu Dhabi.
Job purpose
The Lead Process Engineer is responsible for leading all process engineering activities for ADNOC offshore projects, ensuring safe, efficient, and cost-effective design and operation of offshore oil and gas processing facilities. The role involves managing process design deliverables, coordinating multidisciplinary interfaces, and ensuring compliance with ADNOC standards, international codes, and project requirements throughout FEED, detailed engineering, EPC, commissioning, and start-up phases.
Key responsibilities
Lead process engineering activities for offshore oil and gas development projects.
Manage and review process engineering deliverables, including:
Process design basis
Process flow diagrams (PFDs)
Piping & instrumentation diagrams (P&IDs)
Heat & material balance calculations
Process datasheets
Cause & effect diagrams
Utility system design
Perform process simulations using software such as Aspen HYSYS, Aspen Plus, or UniSim.
Develop process sizing calculations for:
Separators
Heat exchangers
Pumps
Compressors
Flare systems
Relief valves
Produced water treatment systems
Ensure compliance with ADNOC standards, API, ASME, ISO, IEC, and international engineering practices.
Coordinate with mechanical, piping, civil, electrical, instrumentation, safety, and operations teams.
Participate in HAZID, HAZOP, SIL, ALARP, and design review workshops.
Review vendor documents and technical proposals for process-related equipment.
Provide technical support during procurement, construction, commissioning, start-up, and performance testing.
Support troubleshooting, debottlenecking, process optimization, and brownfield modification studies.
Monitor engineering schedules, resource allocation, and deliverable progress.
Mentor and supervise process engineers and graduate engineers.
Qualifications
Bachelor's degree in chemical engineering.
Master's degree in chemical or process engineering is an advantage.
Chartered Engineer or Professional Engineer certification is preferred.
Experience
Minimum 18–20 years of experience in oil and gas, petrochemical, refinery, LNG, or offshore EPC projects.
Minimum 5 years in a lead process engineer role.
Proven experience in FEED, detailed engineering, EPC, commissioning, and brownfield projects.
Extensive experience with ADNOC Offshore, ADNOC Gas, Saudi Aramco, Qatar Energy, PDO, or major international operators.
Experience in offshore production facilities, gas processing plants, compression stations, and water injection projects is highly desirable.

Strong knowledge of:
Oil and gas separation systems

Process optimization and operational troubleshooting
Familiarity with ADNOC engineering standards and specifications.
Knowledge of international codes and standards including API, ASME, ISO, and NFPA.

Preferred profile
Recent ADNOC offshore project experience.
Experience on large offshore EPC projects exceeding USD 100 million.
Extensive exposure to offshore platforms, artificial islands, gas compression facilities, and production processing plants.
Proven track record in process safety studies, brownfield modifications, debottlenecking, and production optimization.
Experience supporting commissioning, start-up, and operational readiness activities for offshore facilities.
