Heavy Truck Driver

KBR is looking for a heavy truck driver. A truck driver works either for a company or under independent contracts who transports different types of merchandise from one place to another in a truck, van, or any vehicle capable of carrying large loads. They may have to transport supplies, hazardous chemicals, or manufacturing equipment.

Responsibilities:

The primary responsibility of a truck driver is to haul cargo from one point to another so that it can be distributed, bought, or sold.

Inspect trucks for safety and follow the safety instructions, especially when carrying hazardous materials or chemicals.

Be responsible for the condition of the vehicle and look for any malfunctioning parts.

Inspect the cargo to check whether it has been loaded correctly.

Review all the necessary shipping documents.

Some truck drivers have an extra driver who works under them and drives in shifts to reduce pressure on one driver.

Ensure compliance with all safety procedures.

Encourage reporting of unsafe acts and conditions.

Comply with all safety, health, and environmental (SHE) procedures prior to commencement and during work.

Qualifications:

Minimum 3 years’ experience in the field.

Drivers need to be in good physical condition as they sometimes need to be on the road for days without rest.

They should have knowledge of how to maintain the truck in case it breaks down in remote locations.

They must be punctual and follow the schedule to transport merchandise on time.

They must be very careful and follow precautionary measures when carrying hazardous or fragile materials.
