Key Responsibilities

  • Lead and supervise a team of solar installers and

technicians on-site, assigning tasks and ensuring

efficient, safe execution of installation work.

  • Interpret system design drawings, single-line diagrams,

and site layouts prepared by the design

engineering team, and translate them into accurate on-site installation.

  • Install and oversee installation of mounting structures,

solar panel arrays, inverters, batteries/BESS units,combiner boxes, and associated electrical wiring in line with approved designs.

  • Conduct pre-installation site checks to confirm structural

readiness, roof/ground conditions, and access requirements ahead of mobilization.

  • Ensure all installations comply with EPRA regulations,

national electrical codes, manufacturer

specifications, and the clients safety standards.

  • Carry out system testing, commissioning, and

fault-finding, including string testing, earthing/grounding checks, and inverter configuration.

  • Maintain accurate installation records, checklists, and

handover documentation for each project, and report progress to the Project Manager and Design Engineer.

  • Manage on-site tools, equipment, and materials, ensuring

proper handling, storage, and reconciliation against project bills of materials.

  • Enforce strict adherence to health, safety, and

environmental (HSE) procedures on site, including

working-at-height and electrical safety protocols.

  • Coach, mentor, and train junior installers and technicians

to build team capability and consistency in

workmanship.

  • Liaise with clients on-site to address

installation-related queries and ensure a professional customer

experience.

  • Support post-installation troubleshooting, warranty

callbacks, and maintenance visits as required.

  • Any other related duties as may be required from time to

time.

Qualifications

  • Diploma or certificate in Electrical Engineering,

Electrical Installation, Renewable Energy, or a related technical field.

  • Minimum of 4 years hands-on experience installing solar PV

systems, including at least 1–2 years in a lead or supervisory capacity.

  • Strong practical knowledge of PV system components —

panels, mounting structures, inverters, batteries/BESS, combiner boxes, and balance-of-system wiring.

  • Solid understanding of electrical installation practices,

earthing/grounding, and relevant codes and standards (NEC, IEE, IEC) as well as Kenyan building and electrical codes.

  • Valid EPRA T2 License (required); EPRA T3 License an added

advantage.

  • Working knowledge of health & safety practices for

electrical and rooftop/working-at-height installation work; OSHA/NEBOSH or equivalent HSE certification an advantage.

  • Ability to read and interpret technical drawings,

single-line diagrams, and installation schedules.

  • Strong leadership, team management, and problem-solving

skills, with the ability to keep installation crews organized and motivated on site.

  • Good communication skills, with the ability to liaise

professionally with clients, engineers, and project managers.

  • Willingness and ability to travel extensively to project

sites across the country, including remote locations.

  • Valid driving license is an added advantage.
