Product Builder
About the company
Cartrack builds the software that businesses use to run their fleets: where every vehicle is, how drivers drive, whether they are legal, what needs servicing and what it all costs. Our customers range from a ten-van plumber to fleets of thousands across many countries.
Your tasks
Product Builder, Problem Space Owner In short: You've done both jobs, product management and product design. Here you do both for one part of Cartrack's fleet platform, build the prototypes yourself, and own its metric.
About the role We organise the product into problem spaces, each with one persona, one job and one metric. Driver Safety is measured by high-risk events per 1,000 km. Maintenance by fleet availability. Stay Compliant by driver-days with zero open violations.
You will own one of these spaces end to end. There is no hand-off between a PM writing specs and a designer drawing screens. You research the space, decide where it goes, design and prototype it yourself with AI tools, ship it with engineering, and measure what moved.
The prototype is the brief. Engineering builds from what you made.
In this role, you will
- Learn the space. Benchmark competitors, interview customers and our sales, support and success teams, run usability research, and mine tickets and usage data. Publish a state-of-the-space report each quarter.
- Set the vision. Show where the space will be in 12–24 months as a working prototype, and get the executive team, sales and engineering behind it.
- Plan. Turn the vision into a roadmap of dated milestones. Say what you are not doing.
- Design and build. Design and prototype every milestone yourself with AI tools, within our design system.
- Ship. Write specs with engineering, plan the rollout, and brief sales and marketing. Done means customers use it.
- Measure. Own a live scorecard for the space, reviewed monthly, and decide the next iteration.
- Be the front door. All requests for the space, from sales, success and support, come to you.
Requirements
This is a senior, hands-on individual-contributor role.
You should apply if you
- Have worked as both a PM and a designer, or done both jobs under one title.
- Think in prototypes: you'd rather click through an idea than read about it.
- Want one number with your name next to it.
- Like hard operational problems: regulation, hardware, data that arrives late or not at all.
Several years across product management and product design. This is not a first step into either.
Product management
- You've owned a B2B product area end to end: its roadmap, its priorities, and a metric you moved.
- Discovery: you turn interviews, tickets and usage data into a clear problem.
- You align senior stakeholders and say no out loud.
Product design
- A portfolio showing flows, interaction design and research-led decisions for complex or data-heavy software.
- You test your own work with users and change it based on what you see.
Building
- You build working prototypes with AI tools (Claude, Cursor, v0, Lovable or similar) every week.
- Engineering has built from your prototypes.
- Clear, short writing: your vision reads in one page.
Strong plus
- You contribute code: reading a codebase, querying data or shipping changes to production.
- Commercial sense: pricing, packaging, launches and sales enablement.
- You've contributed to a design system.
- You've founded a company or been the first product person somewhere.
- A background in telematics, fleet, logistics or transport, ideally across several countries.
