*Job Overview*

Kanas Corporation is seeking skilled and dedicated Journeyman/Women Carpenters to join to join our team on a large commercial renovation project in downtown Calgary.

This project involves transforming an existing commercial building into modern residential units, including demolition, framing, interior construction, finishing, and renovation work.

This is an excellent opportunity for a skilled carpenter who takes pride in quality workmanship, understands renovation and retrofit construction, and can work effectively in an active project environment.

*Responsibilities*

• Perform rough and finish carpentry throughout the conversion project.
• Complete wood and metal framing, blocking, backing, and structural carpentry as required.
• Install doors, frames, millwork, trim, cabinetry, and other architectural components.
• Read and interpret construction drawings, specifications, and details.
• Take accurate measurements and calculate material requirements.
• Complete layout and ensure work is installed accurately and to project specifications.
• Perform demolition and selective removal while protecting existing structures and finished work.
• Work around existing building conditions and identify potential issues before they become problems.
• Coordinate work with other trades, site supervision, and subcontractors.
• Maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area.
• Follow all company and site safety procedures and applicable building codes.
• Assist with material handling and other construction tasks as required.
• Identify deficiencies

*Skills*

• Journeyman Carpenter certification required
• 3+ years of carpentry experience, preferably in commercial renovation, tenant improvement, multi-family, or residential construction.
• Strong understanding of carpentry methods, materials, and construction practices.
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specifications.
• Proficient with common carpentry tools and equipment.
• Strong measurement, layout, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision while contributing effectively to a larger construction team
• Able to mentor apprentices
• Fall protection, WHMIS, First Aid, or other relevant safety certifications are an asset.
• Skilled in drywall installation, tile laying, cabinetry setup, and general remodeling or restoration work.
