Job Title: Medical Sales Representative

Department: Sales & Marketing

Reports To: Sales Manager / Regional Sales Manager

Location: Greater Accra, Western, Central, Eastern, Bono East, Bono West

Employment Type: Full-time

Experience Required: 2–4 years

  1. Job Purpose

The Medical Sales Representative will be responsible for promoting the company's pharmaceutical, medical, and healthcare products to healthcare professionals and relevant customers. The role will focus on achieving sales targets, developing strong professional relationships with healthcare providers, expanding market coverage, and ensuring effective product representation in the assigned territory.

  1. Key Responsibilities

Promote and detail the company's products to doctors, pharmacists, hospitals, clinics, pharmacies, and other relevant healthcare professionals. Develop and maintain strong professional relationships with healthcare providers and key decision-makers. Achieve agreed monthly, quarterly, and annual sales targets. Identify new business opportunities and expand the company's customer base within the assigned territory. Conduct regular visits to healthcare facilities, pharmacies, distributors, and other assigned accounts. Provide accurate and appropriate product information to healthcare professionals. Monitor market trends, competitor activities, pricing, product availability, and customer preferences. Gather and communicate relevant market intelligence to the Sales Manager. Follow up on customer enquiries, orders, product availability, and other sales-related matters. Prepare and submit accurate sales reports, call reports, territory plans, and other required documentation. Participate in product launches, medical conferences, exhibitions, promotional activities, and customer engagement programmes. Work closely with distributors, wholesalers, pharmacies, and other channel partners to improve product availability and sales. Maintain a thorough understanding of the company's products and their appropriate applications. Ensure all promotional and sales activities comply with company policies and applicable pharmaceutical/healthcare regulations. Manage assigned territory efficiently and optimise customer visits and sales opportunities. Build and maintain a strong pipeline of prospective customers and business opportunities. Address customer concerns professionally and escalate technical or product-related issues where necessary. Perform any other duties reasonably assigned by management.

  1. Key Performance Indicators (KPIs)

Performance will be assessed against agreed targets, including:

Achievement of monthly and annual sales targets. Growth in sales within the assigned territory. Number and quality of healthcare professional visits. New customer acquisition. Customer retention and relationship management. Product/territory coverage. Accuracy and timeliness of sales reports. Market intelligence and competitor reporting. Collection and management of customer accounts, where applicable. Effectiveness of promotional and product-detailing activities.

  1. Educational Requirements

Bachelor's degree in Pharmacy, Biological Sciences, Health Sciences, Marketing, Business Administration , or a related discipline. Additional professional qualifications in sales, marketing, or pharmaceutical/medical sales will be an advantage.

  1. Experience

2–4 years of relevant experience in medical, pharmaceutical, healthcare, or medical-device sales. Demonstrable experience achieving sales targets. Experience dealing with healthcare professionals, pharmacies, hospitals, clinics, or distributors will be an advantage. Experience managing a defined geographical territory is preferred.

Must be willing to undertake frequent field visits. A valid driver's licence and ability to drive will be an advantage/requirement, depending on the assigned territory. Must be willing to travel as required by the role. Must be able to work towards demanding sales targets.

  1. Reporting Relationship

The Medical Sales Representative will report directly to the Sales Manager/Regional Sales Manager and will work closely with the Marketing, Medical Affairs, Customer Service, Finance, and Distribution teams.
