Role Description The Obstetrician & Gynaecologist will provide comprehensive obstetric and gynecological care, including antenatal, intrapartum, and postnatal services, as well as diagnosis and management of gynecologic conditions. Daily responsibilities include conducting patient consultations, performing physical examinations, ordering and interpreting diagnostic tests, and providing evidence-based treatment and counseling. The role involves performing and assisting in deliveries and surgical procedures, maintaining accurate medical records, and collaborating with other healthcare professionals to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. The specialist will contribute to clinical protocols, participate in case reviews, and support health education initiatives for patients and families. This is a full-time, on-site role based in Warri, Delta State, Nigeria.

Qualifications

Medical degree (MBBS or equivalent) from a recognized institution and completed specialist training in Obstetrics and Gynaecology. Valid medical license and specialist registration with relevant Nigerian regulatory bodies (e.g., MDCN), with good standing. Strong clinical skills in antenatal care, labor and delivery management, gynecologic outpatient care, and common obstetric and gynecologic procedures. Experience in emergency obstetric care, including management of high-risk pregnancies, obstetric emergencies, and surgical interventions. Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, demonstrating clear communication, empathy, and respect for patients and colleagues. Sound clinical judgment, strong diagnostic and decision-making skills, and commitment to evidence-based practice and patient safety. Good documentation and organizational skills, including accurate record-keeping and adherence to clinical protocols and regulatory standards. Willingness to participate in continuous professional development, training, and quality improvement initiatives. Previous experience in a hospital or specialized maternal health setting in Nigeria or similar context is highly beneficial. Familiarity with basic health information systems and readiness to adapt to institutional workflows and policies.
