R&D Engineer
Role Overview: technical R&D Specialist to serve as the critical bridge between our Creative Design Team and the Production & Manufacturing Workshop. In this role, you will take conceptual sketches and transform them into scalable, high-quality, production-ready jewelry.
oversee the prototyping lifecycle, work directly with modelers and artisans, optimize production costs, and track materials and bill of materials (BOM) through our enterprise systems
Main Responsibilities: Design-to-Production Liaison & Prototyping Act as the primary point of contact between Design and Production to ensure aesthetic intent translates into technical reality.
Work closely with Modeler to refine 3D files for casting feasibility, weight optimization, structural integrity, and stone setting.
Conduct sample iterations, analyzing defects, fit, assembly, and mechanism functionality (hinges, clasps, locks) before mass production rollout.
Design & Specification Development:
Work closely with the Design and Product Development departments to define and document precise technical specifications for new jewelry designs.
- Create and maintain product manuals that describe design features, operation (e.g., clasp mechanisms), and maintenance requirements for finished goods.
Systems & Operations (SAP) Create and maintain accurate Bills of Materials (BOM) and routing protocols in SAP for all new R&D prototypes.
Track prototyping raw materials, metal losses, and sample inventory within SAP.
Coordinate with procurement and supply chain teams to ensure required metals, stones, and components are available for sample development.
- Quality Control & Troubleshooting
Inspect first-article samples alongside Quality Control to set baseline standards for the production line.
Troubleshoot manufacturing issues on the workshop floor during initial production runs.
Experience: 2 to 3 years of hands-on R&D, or technical production experience within the Jewelry, Fine Metalworking, or Accessories industry. Education: Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Design, Applied Arts, Jewelry Design, Metallurgy, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field. Technical Skills: Hands-on experience with SAP (ERP system) for BOM creation, inventory management, and operational workflows.
