Job position: Laboratory Resource Support Executive
Salary range: $2100 - $2500
Name of Authority: Westwood Primary School
Contract Period: 4 January 2027 to 31 December 2027.
Option period: 3 January 2028 to 29 December 2028.
Personnel to be deployed at the following hours:
- Mondays to Thursdays: 7:30am to 5:00pm, inclusive of a one-hour lunch break.
- Fridays: 7:30am to 4:30pm, inclusive of a one-hour lunch break.
- Service not required on Saturdays, Sundays and gazetted public holidays.
Requirements:
The following qualifications, skills and experience are preferred:
- Nitec or Higher Nitec in Science or a related discipline, or equivalent.
- At least one year of experience assisting the HOD (Science) or teacher-in-charge with daily laboratory operations and administration.
- Experience supporting Science programmes, STEM and sustainability projects and laboratory lessons, preferably with primary school students.
- Skills in laboratory equipment preparation and maintenance, Google Forms, Excel and booking systems.
- understanding laboratory instructions, preparing records and communicating with teachers and students.
- Good interpersonal, communication, planning and analytical skills; ability to work independently and in a team.
- Standard First Aid certification is an advantage but is not required.
Job Scopes:
The Services required are set out as follows:
- Prepare resources and materials for Science laboratory activities and enrichment programmes.
- Label and maintain records of teaching materials, books, apparatus, chemicals and resource loans.
- Organise Science Rooms and keep them clean and suitable for lessons.
- Check equipment, materials and specimens; conduct stocktaking at least twice yearly, maintain stock and breakage records and initiate replacement orders.
- Dispose of sharp objects, chemicals and other waste appropriately.
- Support student safety, report incidents and maintain a laboratory incident log.
- Check first-aid supplies and laboratory safety equipment, including eye-washers, showers and fire extinguishers.
- Provide administrative and logistical support for competitions, assessments and programmes, including survey collation and resource distribution.
- Assist with laboratory safety and equipment-awareness briefings and other duties assigned by the school.
