farm workers supervisor

Education:

Other trades certificate or diploma. or equivalent experience.

Work site environment:

Hog and pig farming. Hog management. Other grain farming. Dusty. Hot. Noisy. Odours. Outdoors. Grain, oil and forage crop.

Work setting:

Rural area. Remote location. Relocation costs not covered by employer. Willing to relocate.

Tasks:

• Clear and collect brush and debris from fields, pens and other work areas.
• Handling animals.
• Harvest seedlings.
• Marking livestock as proof of ownership.
• Mixing fertilizer.
• Monitoring animal health.
• Perform pig littering activities such as clipping needle teeth, docking tails, administering iron and other medication(s), identification of piglets, and castration.
• Seed cutting.
• Weeding.
• Assist in the development and implementation of farm safety and bio-security procedures.
• Provide agricultural crop services such as plowing, irrigating, cultivating, spraying or harvesting.
• Ensure farm safety and bio-security procedures are followed.
• Maintain livestock performance records.
• Supervise and oversee growing and other crop-related operations.
• Maintain work records and logs.
• Operate and maintain farm machinery and equipment.
• Perform general farm duties.
• Track and report on current feed inventory .

Supervision:

1 to 2 people.

Equipment and machinery experience:

• Feeding and watering system.
• Fertilizer applicator.
• Harvesters.
• Sprayer or duster.
• Tractor.

Area of specialization:

Agricultural crop service. Swine.

Work conditions and physical capabilities:

Physically demanding. Attention to detail. Combination of sitting, standing, walking. Large workload.

Own tools/equipment:

Gloves.
