Solution Architect - #1669
Must-have:AzureCloudDevOpsMicroservicesSecurity
Key Responsibilities
- CDE architecture and strategy: Define the target architecture and technology roadmap for CDE ecosystem, balancing partner collaboration, construction digitalisation, BIM coordination, governance, interoperability, scalability and long-term maintainability.
- Information architecture and governance: Define information structures spanning planning, design, construction, handover and operations, including metadata, classification, naming conventions, project structures, document hierarchies and information lifecycles.
- Establish controls for information ownership, stewardship, permissions, approval states, retention, auditability and traceability, aligned with CDE principles and ISO 19650 information management practices.
- Platform architecture: Design reusable patterns for document management, BIM coordination, workflows, collaboration, issue management, approvals, partner onboarding, information exchange and digital handover.
- Ensure the architecture supports current and future CDE platforms without unnecessary vendor lock-in, while meeting standards for extensibility, scalability, resiliency, security and operational supportability.
- Integration architecture: Define API strategies, event-driven patterns and interoperability standards connecting CDE, BIM, project delivery, asset management and enterprise systems.
- Design information flows across Autodesk, Nemetschek, LeapThought, Bentley, Procore, Oracle Aconex and other technology ecosystems, including digital handover and long-term asset information management.
- Technology leadership: Guide Product Managers, Business Analysts, Experience Designers and Engineering teams on solution design, architecture trade-offs, product evolution and technical debt management.
- Collaborate with cybersecurity, enterprise architecture, cloud and platform engineering teams to ensure solution designs align with enterprise principles and controls.
- Vendor and ecosystem management: Evaluate vendor capabilities, implementation approaches and product roadmaps; promote open standards, interoperability and informed capability expansion, consolidation or rationalisation.
Required Skills and Experience
- At least 8 years of experience in solution architecture, enterprise architecture, platform architecture or large-scale systems integration.
- Demonstrated experience delivering construction technology, project information management, CDE or BIM-related solutions.
- Strong understanding of solution, enterprise, information, integration and platform architecture principles, including cloud-native application design.
- Experience designing ecosystem-level platforms involving multiple products, stakeholders, organisations and delivery partners.
- Proven ability to define architecture standards, reference architectures, integration models and technology roadmaps.
- Practical experience with CDE architecture, BIM ecosystems, construction information management, project collaboration platforms, document management, revision control, digital handover or asset information management.
- Strong understanding of how information is created, reviewed, shared, approved, transferred and reused throughout the asset lifecycle.
- Working knowledge of ISO 19650 information management principles and multi-party information exchange between owners, consultants and contractors.
- Strong stakeholder engagement and architecture governance capability, with the ability to balance business outcomes, governance requirements, technical constraints and long-term maintainability.
Preferred Skills
- Hands-on architecture, implementation or governance experience with one or more CDE, BIM, construction collaboration or project information management platforms, including Autodesk Construction Cloud, Autodesk Platform Services, Nemetschek solutions, LeapThought, Bentley platforms, Procore or Oracle Aconex.
- Experience across multiple technology ecosystems, with the ability to establish adaptable and interoperable architecture rather than dependence on a single vendor.
- Experience in construction technology, BIM collaboration, information management, digital delivery, design coordination, construction management and digital handover.
- Experience with Microsoft Azure, API Management, event-driven architecture, microservices, enterprise integration, SaaS platform architecture, and identity and access management.
- Knowledge of information governance, data governance, security architecture, compliance architecture, and audit and traceability controls.
- Ability to evaluate emerging CDE, BIM, information management and construction technology solutions and recommend practical adoption approaches.
What Success Looks Like
- A clear architecture roadmap for the evolution of its Partner Experience and CDE ecosystem.
- Project and asset information moves consistently, securely and traceably across platforms and organisational boundaries.
- Architecture patterns support interoperability across Autodesk, Nemetschek, LeapThought, Bentley, Procore, Oracle Aconex and future CDE platforms.
- Product teams deliver capabilities faster through reusable architecture principles and reference patterns.
- Information governance is embedded into platform design rather than imposed after implementation.
- Digital handover and asset information management capabilities become scalable and repeatable across projects.
- Architecture decisions balance flexibility, governance, usability and long-term sustainability, keeping technology investments adaptable as business requirements and industry platforms evolve.
Ideal Candidate Profile
The ideal candidate is a pragmatic architect who can connect business outcomes, construction information management and technology delivery into a coherent platform strategy. They understand that successful CDE implementations are not primarily technology projects, but information management transformations.
They can move comfortably between executive discussions, information governance workshops, vendor evaluations, architecture reviews and engineering implementation details. They can leverage platforms such as Autodesk, Nemetschek, LeapThought, Bentley, Procore and Oracle Aconex while ensuring organisation remains in control of its information, integration patterns and long-term digital strategy.
