Translator/Linguist (Freelance)

Accountabilities: Edit and refine AI-assisted translations to ensure fluency, accuracy, natural expression, appropriate tone, and cultural relevance.

Localize scripts and other content for dubbing, voiceover, subtitles, audiobooks, and multimedia experiences.

Review translated content from the perspective of the target audience, adapting expressions and references where necessary.

Ensure consistent terminology, style, and linguistic quality across projects, maintaining glossaries when required.

Collaborate with dubbing, audio, and other production specialists to ensure translated scripts work naturally when spoken.

Independently manage assigned tasks and deliver high-quality linguistic work within agreed deadlines.

Contribute human linguistic judgment and quality control to AI-assisted translation workflows.

Requirements:

Native or near-native fluency in Portuguese and/or another supported language, with strong command of the target language.

Proven professional experience in translation, localization, or a closely related linguistic field.

Strong understanding of cultural nuances and the ability to adapt content effectively for different audiences.

Exceptional attention to detail, with a strong commitment to linguistic accuracy, consistency, and natural flow.

Ability to work independently, manage assigned workload effectively, and consistently meet deadlines.

Strong written communication skills and sound judgment when adapting tone, terminology, and meaning.

Experience translating audiovisual content such as film, YouTube videos, e-learning, podcasts, or audiobooks is a plus.

Experience with language service providers, localization teams, media organizations, or similar environments is advantageous.

Familiarity with subtitle editing software, CAT tools, or AI-assisted translation workflows is desirable.

Experience with AI-powered localization or content-generation tools is a plus.

Academic background in linguistics, translation studies, language technology, or a related field is advantageous.
