States Tax Senior Analyst
Accountabilities Prepare and support recurring state tax compliance activities, including state income tax returns, payments, schedules, supporting documentation, and workpapers.
Assist with quarterly tax provision processes and maintain complete, accurate, and audit-ready documentation.
Respond to state tax notices, gather supporting audit materials, and coordinate with internal stakeholders to resolve tax-related requests.
Support operational tax activities, including business license filings, annual reports, customer information requests, and sales tax exemption certificate tracking.
Conduct state and local tax research and communicate findings and conclusions clearly and concisely.
Develop and maintain working knowledge of telecommunications taxes, fees, and related compliance requirements through ongoing training and collaboration.
Use tax and financial systems to support efficient, accurate, and well-documented processes.
Manage assigned responsibilities independently, maintain strong follow-through, and meet recurring compliance deadlines.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
Experience preparing state and local tax returns and supporting recurring tax compliance processes.
Experience responding to state tax notices and maintaining organized tax documentation and workpapers.
Working knowledge of state and local tax fundamentals, including income tax, sales/use tax, nexus, and indirect tax concepts.
Strong Excel skills and the ability to analyze, organize, and communicate tax information effectively.
Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, independence, and consistent follow-through.
Ability to research tax questions and communicate conclusions clearly to relevant stakeholders.
Preferred experience with sales/use tax, tax provision support, Avalara, AvaTax, NetSuite, telecommunications tax, or public accounting environments.
Ability to work approximately 24 hours per week in a fully remote position.

Annual base salary range of $86,000–$114,000 on a full-time-equivalent basis, with actual compensation adjusted for the approved part-time schedule and influenced by location, experience, and comparable internal compensation.
