Sr. Manager, Customer Marketing
Accountabilities Own and develop the customer marketing strategy, establishing goals, programs, processes, and measurement frameworks for a scalable function.
Build strong relationships with flagship customers and develop co-marketing initiatives such as case studies, joint webinars, co-presentations, and joint PR opportunities.
Create a consistent customer proof and thought leadership engine that provides Sales and Marketing with compelling evidence of customer outcomes, particularly as the business expands into new verticals.
Manage the customer marketing budget, external vendors, and program reporting, including measurement of pipeline influence and overall business impact.
Design and launch customer advocacy initiatives, including incentive programs, referral programs, review campaigns, and customer communities.
Establish and manage a Customer Advisory Board and user-group programs that deepen relationships with highly engaged customers.
Develop recognition and rewards programs that encourage satisfied customers to become active public advocates.
Build a formal customer reference program, managing intake, approvals, scheduling, usage, and ongoing relationship health.
Partner with Sales to provide a reliable, current pool of customer references and establish clear processes and SLAs so references are available when needed.
Collaborate with Customer Success on onboarding, adoption, renewal, and lifecycle communications that maintain engagement throughout the customer journey.
Develop upsell and cross-sell campaigns and playbooks, including customer events and thought leadership initiatives designed to support account expansion.
Create QBR materials and account-level nurture programs that help convert retained customer relationships into expansion opportunities.
Establish scalable processes for securing logo rights and customer marketing participation during onboarding and new customer contracting.
Build effective handoffs between Sales, Customer Success, and Customer Marketing so customers understand engagement opportunities from the beginning of their relationship.
Requirements
5+ years of experience building or scaling customer marketing functions within a high-growth B2B software or SaaS environment, ideally at an early-stage company.
Demonstrated ability to originate customer marketing strategies and programs rather than simply execute established playbooks.
Strong knowledge of modern customer marketing practices, including customer reference programs, advocacy, review platforms such as G2, customer communities, case studies, and thought leadership.
Experience developing customer stories and content that resonate with senior stakeholders, particularly within enterprise or financial services accounts.
Exceptional written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to create compelling narratives and build trusted relationships with customers and internal stakeholders.
Proven ability to influence cross-functional teams, including Sales, Customer Success, Marketing, and Legal, and drive adoption of new programs and processes without relying solely on formal authority.
Strong strategic thinking combined with a hands-on, execution-oriented approach and the ability to build programs from the ground up.
Excellent project management and organizational skills, with the ability to manage multiple initiatives, stakeholders, and priorities simultaneously.
Strong understanding of customer advocacy, lifecycle engagement, references, reviews, and how customer proof can influence pipeline and expansion.
Comfort working in a fast-moving, high-growth environment where priorities can evolve quickly and individuals are expected to exercise strong judgment and ownership.
Experience with AI-enabled approaches to customer marketing, content creation, case study development, or reference management is valuable.
Experience working at a Series A–C company or similarly fast-paced organization is a plus.
Experience in financial services or wealth management is preferred.
