Sr. Federal Certification Engineer

Your tasks

• Managecertificationactivities:SupporttheexecutionofCommonCriteria,FederalInformationProcessingStandards(FIPS),andDepartmentofDefenseInformationNetwork(DoDIN)certificationsacrossnetworkingproductlines.
• Coordinatelaboratoryevaluations:Representthenetworkingengineeringfunctionwhenworkingwithaccreditedtestinglaboratories,trackingmilestonesandensuringcertificationactivitiesremainonschedule.
• Developtechnicaldocumentation:Create,review,andmaintaincertificationdocumentation,includingFIPSsecuritypoliciesandCommonCriteriasecuritytargets,collaboratingwithexternaltechnicalwriterswhenneeded.
• SupportengineeringandQAteams:Provideguidancetosoftwaredevelopersandqualityassuranceprofessionalsoncertificationprocesses,securityrequirements,andcomplianceexpectations.
• Identifyandresolvecompliancegaps:Communicatedeficienciesidentifiedduringlaboratorytestingtorelevantengineeringandproductteams,helpingcoordinateremediationactivitiesandmaintaincertificationreadiness.
• Monitorregulatorydevelopments:Trackchangestogovernmentsecuritystandardsandcommunicatepotentialimpactsonproductreleases,engineeringpriorities,andcertificationstrategies.
• Maintaincryptographiccompliance:Contributetothedevelopment,compliance,andongoingmaintenanceofFIPS-compliantcryptographicmodules.
• Coordinateprojectexecution:Participateinregularmeetingswithlaboratoriesandinternalstakeholders,monitorprojectprogress,andhelpensurecertificationmilestonesanddeliverablesareachieved.

Requirements

• Education:Bachelor'sdegreeinElectricalEngineering,ComputerScience,orarelatedtechnicaldiscipline.Amaster'sdegreeispreferred,althoughequivalentexperiencemaybeconsidered.
• Professionalexperience:Atleastfouryearsofexperienceinrolesinvolvinggovernmentcertificationsorsecuritytesting,includingaminimumofthreeyearsworkingwithcertificationframeworkssuchasCommonCriteria,FIPS,orDoDIN.
• Cryptographicexpertise:Atleasttwoyearsoftechnicalexperienceworkingwithcryptographicmodules,ideallyincludingsoftwaredevelopmentormaintenance.
• Programmingknowledge:BackgroundinsoftwareengineeringwithexperienceinC/C++,Python,and/orGolang.TheabilitytoreadandunderstandCsourcecodeisessential.
• Certificationandcomplianceknowledge:Familiaritywithgovernmentsecurityevaluationprocesses,cryptographicstandards,andthedocumentationrequiredtoachieveandmaintaincertifications.
• Projectmanagement:Strongorganizationalandprojectmanagementskills,withtheabilitytocoordinatetechnicalactivities,managemilestones,andcommunicateeffectivelyacrossmultidisciplinaryteams.
• Communicationandcollaboration:Excellentanalytical,problem-solving,andinterpersonalskills,withtheabilitytoexplaincomplextechnicalandregulatoryrequirementstodifferentstakeholders.
• Autonomy:Abilitytoworkindependently,exercisesoundjudgment,andmanagemultipleprioritieswithlimitedsupervision.
• Additionalassets:RelevantcertificationssuchasCISSP,CSSLP,orISSEP;experiencedevelopingcryptographicmodules;andknowledgeofinternationalstandardssuchasEUCC,EUCRA,andITSAR.
• Workauthorizationandtravel:ApplicantsmustbeU.S.citizensorGreenCardholders.Occasionaltravelofapproximately5–10%isrequired.
