Accountabilities: Define and own the end-to-end test automation strategy for customer-facing web portals and backend microservices, balancing UI, API, contract, integration, and end-to-end testing.

Design comprehensive testing approaches for distributed and event-driven architectures, covering asynchronous messaging, eventual consistency, idempotency, message ordering, retries, and dead-letter queues.

Develop and maintain scalable, reusable automation frameworks for web applications using Playwright, Selenium, or equivalent technologies, alongside API and service-level testing using Java and/or JavaScript/TypeScript.

Build reusable testing components, including page objects, fixtures, data builders, and test harnesses, to improve maintainability, consistency, and adoption across engineering teams.

Design and execute tests for cloud-native applications deployed on AWS ECS, EKS, and Lambda, using tools such as TestContainers and LocalStack to validate integrations and simulate cloud services in local environments.

Drive performance, load, resilience, and reliability testing using tools such as JMeter, k6, Gatling, or Locust, identifying bottlenecks and collaborating with engineering teams on improvements.

Contribute to non-functional quality assurance through security testing, failure injection, and resilience testing where appropriate.

Integrate automated test suites into CI/CD pipelines using platforms such as GitHub Actions, Jenkins, or GitLab CI, improving feedback cycles and supporting continuous delivery.

Reduce flaky tests, optimize execution times, enable parallel test execution, and improve test-result visibility. Define and monitor quality metrics such as test coverage, production defect escape rate, mean time to recovery (MTTR), and test flakiness.

Leverage AI-powered coding assistants and large language models to accelerate test development, generate test data, scaffold automation frameworks, analyze failures, and improve test coverage. Establish responsible usage practices, effective prompting patterns, and appropriate human-review safeguards.

Collaborate with developers, product teams, and DevOps engineers to resolve quality issues, review application and test code, and influence architecture and API-contract decisions to make systems more testable, observable, and resilient.

Mentor and support mid-level and senior QA engineers, sharing best practices in automation architecture, test strategy, and quality engineering. Continuously evaluate new tools, methodologies, and industry practices to strengthen the team's capabilities.

Requirements:

Strong programming skills in Java, particularly within the Spring Boot ecosystem, and/or JavaScript/TypeScript, with the ability to develop production-quality automation code.

Extensive hands-on experience with Playwright, Selenium, or equivalent web automation frameworks, including the design of maintainable and scalable test suites.

Proven experience testing microservices, REST APIs, and distributed backend systems, including asynchronous and event-driven architectures using AWS SNS/SQS or equivalent messaging technologies. Experience with Kafka or RabbitMQ is an advantage.

Practical experience testing cloud-native applications on AWS, particularly ECS, EKS, and Lambda, along with familiarity with Docker, containers, and Kubernetes.

Solid understanding of API testing and automation tools such as Postman or REST Assured, REST/JSON interfaces, and service-level testing principles.

Experience integrating automated testing into CI/CD pipelines and implementing quality gates that support reliable, continuous software delivery.

Knowledge of performance, load, scalability, resilience, and other non-functional testing practices, with experience using relevant testing tools.

Familiarity with test environment management, test data generation, framework architecture, reusable automation components, and debugging complex test failures.

Basic knowledge of UNIX/Linux environments and scripting, with the ability to investigate issues across application and infrastructure layers.

Hands-on experience with AI-assisted development tools such as GitHub Copilot, Claude Code, Cursor, or similar solutions, including the ability to apply them effectively to testing workflows while recognizing the importance of human oversight and correctness.

Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, attention to detail, sound technical judgment, and the ability to make quality-focused decisions in a fast-paced engineering environment.

Demonstrated leadership through technical mentoring, cross-functional collaboration, code reviews, and the ability to influence engineering practices without relying on formal management authority.

Excellent communication skills and a proactive approach to identifying risks, improving processes, and embedding quality early in the software development lifecycle.

Nice to have:

Experience with contract-testing frameworks such as Pact or Spring Cloud Contract.

Familiarity with Infrastructure as Code tools such as Terraform or AWS CloudFormation.

Experience with observability and monitoring platforms such as Amazon CloudWatch, Datadog, or Grafana.

Background in identity verification, Know Your Customer (KYC), Anti-Money Laundering (AML), or other security- and compliance-sensitive domains.

Experience testing AI-powered features or integrating AI capabilities into test automation, quality engineering, and CI/CD workflows.

Benefits:

Remote working opportunity based in India, offering flexibility in where you work.

Opportunity to contribute to complex, cloud-native systems with a strong emphasis on scalability, reliability, and security.

A senior individual contributor role with opportunities to influence technical architecture, testing strategy, and engineering standards.

Opportunities to mentor engineers, share technical expertise, and help shape quality engineering practices across teams.

Exposure to modern automation frameworks, cloud infrastructure, distributed systems, and AI-assisted engineering tools.

A collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment that encourages innovation, accountability, inclusion, and continuous improvement.

Opportunities to work on technology designed to strengthen digital identity verification and help prevent online fraud and financial crime.

Compensation, healthcare coverage, and additional employment benefits: Specific details were not provided in the original job description and should be confirmed during the recruitment process.
