Senior Smart Contract Engineer
Your tasks
- Design and deploy production smart contracts: Build, test, audit, and deploy Solidity smart contracts on Ethereum Virtual Machine (EVM)-compatible networks, including contracts that interact with external asset providers and manage user funds.
- Architect reusable contract systems: Design smart contract systems from the ground up, defining interfaces, system boundaries, storage layouts, upgrade strategies, access controls, and emergency procedures. Evaluate which components should operate onchain and which are better handled offchain.
- Own critical engineering initiatives: Take end-to-end responsibility for significant deliverables, including contracts supporting token sales and new financial products. Contribute to technical direction and help improve development velocity and product outcomes.
- Prioritize security throughout the development lifecycle: Conduct adversarial code reviews, assess external audit findings, implement fuzzing and invariant testing, rehearse deployments on testnets, and contribute to ongoing monitoring and incident response.
- Establish high engineering standards: Deliver reliable, maintainable, and gas-efficient code while balancing execution speed with rigorous testing, security, and production readiness.
- Collaborate across a distributed team: Work independently while communicating effectively with engineering colleagues and technical leadership. Use AI-powered development tools to improve productivity and contribute to a culture of continuous learning.
- Explore additional blockchain ecosystems: As business needs and individual interests align, contribute to projects involving Rust, Solana, and other relevant blockchain technologies.
Requirements
- Professional experience: More than seven years of professional software engineering experience, including at least two years developing Solidity smart contracts that have been deployed to production.
- Deep EVM knowledge: Strong understanding of storage layout and packing, gas mechanics, memory, calldata and storage, ABI encoding, event indexing, contract size limits, and the trade-offs involved in smart contract design.
- Smart contract architecture and security: Hands-on experience with proxy patterns and upgradeability, role-based access control, signature verification, EIP-712, replay protection, reentrancy prevention, and defenses against oracle manipulation and price attacks.
- Testing and development tools: Proficiency with Foundry, preferably, or Hardhat. Experience with fork testing, fuzzing, invariant testing, and building systematic testing strategies grounded in sound engineering principles.
- Security-first mindset: Ability to anticipate adversarial scenarios, including flash-loan attacks, MEV exploitation, and malicious token behavior, and to identify and mitigate vulnerabilities before deployment.
- Strong execution and ownership: A track record of delivering high-quality code, managing priorities, meeting deadlines, and focusing effort on the highest-impact engineering challenges.
- Product-oriented thinking: Interest in the business objectives and user needs behind technical decisions, with the ability to make practical trade-offs and contribute beyond implementation alone.
- Autonomy and collaboration: Comfort working independently in an evolving environment, making progress despite incomplete requirements, and involving teammates when collaboration or alignment is needed.
- Communication and remote collaboration: Strong written communication skills and the ability to work effectively with colleagues across different locations and time zones.
- AI proficiency: Familiarity with integrating AI tools into everyday engineering workflows to improve efficiency and development quality.
- Preferred qualifications: Experience with Rust, Anchor, or production Solana programs; knowledge of SPL tokens, program-derived addresses, token extensions, and compute-unit optimization; DeFi protocol expertise involving lending, automated market makers, ERC-4626 vaults, staking, and reward accounting; or familiarity with account abstraction under ERC-4337, including smart accounts, paymasters, and bundlers.
What we offer
- Competitive compensation: Annual base salary ranging from $170,000 to $190,000, depending on experience and jurisdiction.
- Equity participation: Equity compensation, offering an opportunity to share in the potential growth of the business.
- Fully remote work: Remote position for candidates based in the United States.
- Distributed collaboration: Work with a remote-first team primarily based on the U.S. East and West Coasts, with some overlap expected with colleagues in other time zones.
- Healthcare coverage: Medical, dental, and vision insurance at no monthly cost for U.S.-based employees.
- Flexible time off: Unlimited paid time off.
- AI tools budget: Monthly budget for AI tools to support productivity and day-to-day work.
