Senior Energy Consultant / Assistant Project Manager
Accountabilities: Provide development support, conceptual design, technical evaluations, and owner’s engineer services for electric power generation projects and facilities.
Conduct engineering design reviews and technical due diligence to assess project feasibility, technical performance, risks, and requirements.
Support project development activities across multiple power generation technologies, including thermal and renewable energy.
Contribute to conceptual engineering and design activities, with mechanical design experience on thermal power projects considered an advantage.
Support project economic analysis, cost assessments, financial modeling, risk evaluations, and contract development activities.
Work with project management teams to track and communicate project financials, schedules, risks, mitigation plans, contract backlogs, project status, and staffing requirements.
Provide high-level analytical, administrative, and coordination support to multidisciplinary project teams.
Participate in internal and client-facing project meetings as required, helping translate technical and project information into clear actions and deliverables.
Assist with project planning, scheduling, deadlines, and maintenance of deliverable schedules across multiple concurrent projects.
Help guide the adoption of modern engineering tools, automation, data-driven workflows, and AI-enabled solutions to improve efficiency, reduce rework, and support cost-effective designs.
Provide oversight and guidance when engineers use tools such as Python, MATLAB, advanced Excel, or AI and agentic AI technologies to automate engineering tasks, ensuring outputs are appropriately reviewed and validated.
Contribute to process improvement initiatives that strengthen engineering quality, project execution, documentation, and client delivery.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Engineering from an ABET-accredited program, preferably in Electrical, Mechanical, Civil, or Chemical Engineering.
At least 7 years of independent engineering experience supporting power projects and/or experience in power project development.
Experience working with multiple power generation technologies, such as thermal and renewable energy.
Strong ability to organize, prioritize, and manage competing responsibilities while working under pressure and meeting deadlines.
Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office, particularly Microsoft Excel, including the creation and maintenance of detailed, interactive spreadsheets, workbooks, and databases.
Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with the ability to interact effectively with project teams, clients, vendors, and stakeholders at different organizational levels.
Strong analytical, interpersonal, and problem-solving skills, combined with the ability to work collaboratively and provide guidance to others.
Experience with project finance or financial modeling for power projects is a plus.
Experience supporting owner’s engineering activities during power project execution is preferred.
Experience preparing technical reports and proposals is valued.
Project planning and leadership experience is beneficial, particularly in complex engineering or infrastructure environments.
A Master’s degree in Engineering, Business, or a related discipline is advantageous.
Familiarity with automation, AI, software engineering, computer science, Python, MATLAB, or advanced engineering workflows is valued but not required.
PMI Project Management Professional (PMP) certification is a plus.
Must be authorized to work in the United States; employment sponsorship is not available for this position.
Willingness and ability to travel within the United States and internationally as project requirements dictate.
