Senior Developer (Java/Backend)

Accountabilities Design, develop, deploy, and maintain enterprise-grade backend applications and RESTful APIs throughout the complete software development lifecycle, including requirements analysis, architecture, coding, testing, deployment, and operational support.

Build and optimize API-driven solutions using Java technologies, modern frameworks, and enterprise application architectures to support large-scale data discovery and analytics platforms.

Develop and maintain cloud-native data processing workflows and ETL solutions using AWS services to improve automation, scalability, and operational efficiency.

Design, implement, and optimize database solutions across large-scale enterprise environments, including data architecture, performance tuning, storage management, and operational support.

Manage development workflows, source control, and CI/CD processes using tools such as GitHub, Bitbucket, Jira, and related engineering platforms.

Apply Agile and SAFe methodologies to support iterative development, backlog management, sprint execution, and continuous delivery practices.

Perform unit testing, integration testing, security validation, and automated deployment activities to ensure application reliability, quality, and compliance.

Monitor application performance, troubleshoot production issues, implement enhancements, and support ongoing maintenance activities.

Collaborate with architects, developers, product teams, and stakeholders to define technical requirements, participate in design reviews, and deliver effective software solutions.

Provide technical guidance, documentation, and knowledge sharing to support team development and engineering best practices.

Requirements

5+ years of professional experience as a software engineer, backend developer, or API developer.

Strong expertise in Java development and experience building secure, scalable RESTful APIs using frameworks such as Spring Boot, JAX-RS, or Jersey.

Solid understanding of API architecture, API security principles, software design patterns, data structures, algorithms, and application performance optimization.

Experience working with enterprise databases such as Oracle, MariaDB, PostgreSQL, Aurora, or similar relational database technologies.

Familiarity with additional programming languages including Python, JavaScript, or TypeScript.

Experience with modern frontend technologies or JavaScript frameworks such as VueJS is considered a plus.

Hands-on experience with Agile development methodologies, including Scrum, Kanban, Jira, Confluence, and SAFe environments.

Strong communication and collaboration skills, with the ability to prepare technical documentation and present architecture solutions to stakeholders.

Experience with AWS services such as EC2, S3, RDS, Aurora, Lambda, and related cloud technologies is highly desirable.

Knowledge of infrastructure-as-code tools such as Terraform or CloudFormation and automated deployment practices is preferred.

Experience with microservices architecture, containerization technologies such as Docker and Kubernetes, and DevOps tools including Jenkins or GitLab CI/CD is a plus.

Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field is preferred.

Must be a U.S. Citizen and able to obtain or maintain Public Trust (High) clearance.
