Regional Operations & Maintenance Manager

Accountabilities Lead and develop regional project managers, technicians, and contractors through workforce planning, coaching, training, and performance management.

Provide 24/7 operational leadership for a portfolio of utility-scale BESS assets, maintaining high standards for safety, reliability, availability, efficiency, and commercial performance.

Act as the senior on-call authority for operational incidents, safety events, emergencies, and critical system disruptions across the region.

Deliver contractual performance targets covering system availability, capacity, round-trip efficiency, reliability, and other asset-performance measures.

Develop and implement preventive, predictive, and condition-based maintenance programs designed to maximize asset performance and lifecycle value.

Analyze SCADA, EMS, BMS, and other operational data to troubleshoot issues, conduct root-cause analysis, and implement permanent corrective actions.

Manage battery health strategies, including degradation monitoring, warranty claims, augmentation planning, and end-of-life asset considerations.

Support commissioning, energization, and operational readiness for new sites while coordinating outage planning, spare parts, and logistics.

Develop, maintain, and test emergency response plans covering thermal events, fires, outages, and cyber/OT incidents.

Ensure compliance with OSHA, NFPA, electrical, environmental, permitting, interconnection, and other applicable requirements.

Serve as a senior operational liaison for customers, OEMs, contractors, and leadership, communicating performance results, risks, and strategic recommendations.

Manage regional O&M budgets, vendor relationships, service agreements, warranties, and continuous improvement initiatives.

Hold OEMs and contractors accountable for contractual performance standards while identifying opportunities to improve cost, safety, and operational effectiveness.

Requirements

Bachelor's degree in electrical, mechanical, energy, or industrial engineering, or an equivalent combination of technical education and substantial power-plant or electrical O&M experience.

6–8+ years of operations and maintenance experience with power systems such as BESS or PV, including 2–5+ years in a supervisory, regional, or multi-site leadership capacity.

Experience with utility-scale BESS assets, including 100 MW+ systems, hybrid solar-plus-storage projects, and/or standalone energy storage facilities.

Experience with battery energy storage, photovoltaic systems, and rotating power-generation assets.

Demonstrated experience managing multi-site O&M operations, including planning, execution, vendor oversight, budgets, contracts, warranties, and performance guarantees.

Experience establishing O&M programs for growing asset fleets, including process development, spare-parts strategy, training, and operational readiness.

Strong technical knowledge of lithium-ion phosphate battery systems, power conversion systems, MV/LV electrical distribution, SCADA/BMS/EMS platforms, industrial communications, and remote diagnostics.

Experience developing predictive and preventive maintenance programs, conducting root-cause analysis, and implementing continuous improvement initiatives.

Experience using CMMS platforms such as Maximo, SAP PM, or comparable maintenance management systems.

Strong knowledge of electrical safety practices, including arc-flash protection, lockout/tagout (LOTO), switching, and high-voltage work procedures.

Understanding of energy markets, capacity markets, ancillary services, and how operational decisions can affect revenue performance.

Demonstrated ability to negotiate and manage OEM and contractor relationships and enforce contractual performance requirements.

Strong analytical, problem-solving, organizational, and decision-making skills, with the ability to translate operational data into business actions.

Effective communication skills with the ability to work with executives, engineers, field personnel, customers, contractors, and other stakeholders.

Ability to lead technical teams in a multi-site environment and respond effectively to operational emergencies and changing priorities.

Benefits

Base salary range of $122,000–$176,000 , depending on factors such as skills, experience, education, certifications, internal equity, and location.
