Regional Account Manager
Accountabilities Develop and execute sales strategies designed to achieve revenue, profitability, and market-share objectives across foodservice, retail, and distributor channels.
Build and maintain strong relationships with strategic accounts, including major food distributors, retail customers, and other high-value partners.
Identify, develop, and pursue new business opportunities by understanding customer needs, market trends, and emerging channel opportunities.
Partner with internal stakeholders on RFPs, pricing, product samples, merchandising, product development, and customer service initiatives to deliver competitive solutions.
Develop and support distributor and broker organizations through training, relationship management, and market-development initiatives.
Negotiate and manage sales contracts for assigned accounts, ensuring products and services are delivered according to agreed plans and commercial objectives.
Represent the organization at trade shows, industry events, and customer meetings while generating, tracking, and following up on qualified business leads.
Prepare sales budgets, targets, forecasts, and performance reports, providing clear updates and recommendations to sales leadership.
Analyze sales performance using ERP systems and analytical tools such as Power BI to identify trends, measure results, and support data-driven decisions.
Manage sales-related expenses within the assigned budget and monitor performance against financial objectives.
Stay informed about foodservice, retail, dairy, and futures-market developments and assess their potential impact on commercial strategies.
Travel throughout the assigned territory for customer visits, industry events, and periodic production-facility visits, including overnight travel when required.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in Sales, Marketing, Business, or a related field, combined with 5–7 years of experience in food product sales and marketing.
Proven success generating sales revenue consistently and rapidly, with experience managing regional or national foodservice, retail, independent accounts, and/or broker networks.
Strong understanding of food distributor networks, their operations, and the dynamics of foodservice and retail channels.
Previous experience in the dairy or cheese industry is preferred, along with knowledge of dairy and futures markets and their influence on marketing decisions.
Established relationships within foodservice and/or retail markets are highly desirable.
Experience developing sales strategies, responding to RFPs, managing account performance, and building long-term customer partnerships.
Demonstrated ability to collaborate cross-functionally with teams supporting pricing, merchandising, product development, samples, and customer service.
Proficiency with ERP systems and Microsoft Office applications, including Microsoft Power BI and sales analytics tools.
Excellent negotiation, communication, presentation, relationship-building, and interpersonal skills.
Strong commercial judgment, initiative, organization, and ability to manage multiple priorities independently.
Ability to analyze sales data and translate market and customer insights into actionable growth strategies.
Willingness and ability to travel approximately 35–45% for customer meetings, trade shows, and business activities.
Valid driver’s license and ability to meet applicable driving and insurance requirements.
Must be legally authorized to work in the United States at the time of application.
