Manager, Clinical Data Science
Accountabilities Lead and oversee multiple Clinical Data Science projects ranging from individual studies to complex global programs, ensuring activities are delivered according to contractual commitments, client expectations, quality standards, SOPs, and applicable regulatory requirements.
Serve as a primary escalation and relationship-management contact for assigned clients and projects, evaluating issues, developing appropriate solutions, and escalating matters requiring additional leadership involvement.
Oversee project launch, execution, and closeout activities while ensuring clinical data science deliverables and documentation are completed accurately and maintained in an inspection-ready state.
Monitor project scope, budgets, resources, forecasts, utilization, timelines, productivity, and quality to support the financial and operational health of assigned accounts.
Guide Clinical Data Science leads in monitoring clinical and operational data quality, identifying risks, interpreting data in the context of protocols and therapeutic areas, and supporting appropriate corrective actions.
Support the development and implementation of technologies, tools, and applications designed to identify potentially unreliable data and strengthen clinical trial data quality.
Participate in quality investigations, CAPAs, audit findings, client audits, and regulatory inspections, helping teams prepare and respond effectively.
Lead, mentor, and develop assigned team members through recruitment, onboarding, goal setting, performance reviews, training, coaching, and individualized development planning.
Manage team workloads and resource allocation, assigning responsibilities while monitoring billable and non-billable activities, productivity, timelines, and quality.
Support project review meetings, client meetings, business development activities, proposals, budgets, and statements of work by providing Clinical Data Science expertise.
Develop training materials and deliver training when needed, while contributing to departmental technologies, SOPs, processes, and operational improvements.
Perform additional responsibilities as required to support team, project, client, and organizational objectives.
Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in biological sciences, computer sciences, mathematics, data sciences, or a related natural science or healthcare discipline; a Master’s degree is preferred. Equivalent relevant professional experience may be considered.
Strong knowledge of the drug development process and its relationship to clinical data quality, including risk-based approaches, biometrics processes, and clinical data workflows.
Demonstrated experience in Clinical Data Science practices and relational database management systems.
Strong project management capabilities and knowledge of established project management methodologies.
Experience providing leadership within Clinical Data Science, including mentoring, coaching, team development, and effective collaboration with clients and internal stakeholders.
Excellent written and verbal communication, presentation, interpersonal, influencing, and stakeholder-management skills.
Demonstrated ability to work effectively within matrixed, multidisciplinary teams and across complex organizational structures.
Strong decision-making and prioritization skills, with the ability to manage multiple high-priority projects in a fast-changing environment.
Knowledge of ICH/GCP regulatory requirements applicable to clinical studies.
A collaborative, positive, and solutions-oriented approach to working with colleagues, clients, and project teams.
Ability to travel as required, potentially up to 25%.
