Expert Audio Transcriber, Portuguese (Brazilian)

Accountabilities: Transcribe audio recordings into accurate, time-aligned written text according to project-specific style guidelines.

Apply appropriate conventions for speaker identification, overlapping speech, disfluencies, fillers, false starts, and non-speech events such as laughter, background noise, and music.

Make consistent orthographic decisions when working with dialectal, colloquial, and code-switched speech.

Identify and flag ambiguous audio segments, uncertain speaker attribution, and audio quality issues using established project conventions.

Review every completed transcription against required quality standards before submission.

Participate in QA reviews, calibration sessions, and discussions regarding complex transcription cases.

Incorporate feedback from linguistic reviewers and apply updates to evolving style guidelines.

Maintain consistent accuracy and productivity while meeting defined project volumes and deadlines.

Use web-based annotation platforms and variable-speed audio playback tools effectively.

Requirements:

Native-level Portuguese fluency with lifelong residence or deep linguistic and cultural immersion in Brazil.

Strong command of Portuguese orthography according to the current Acordo Ortográfico.

Ability to distinguish Brazilian Portuguese from European Portuguese and apply appropriate transcription conventions.

Strong ability to recognize and accurately transcribe regional accents within the declared variety.

At least 2 years of professional experience in transcription, captioning, court reporting, broadcasting, translation, linguistic annotation, or a closely related field.

Demonstrated ability to maintain word-level accuracy when working under deadlines.

Comfortable working with web-based annotation platforms and variable-speed audio.

Reliable high-speed internet, quality headphones, and a quiet workspace suitable for focused audio work.

Ability to commit to defined weekly volumes during active project phases.

Strong attention to detail, linguistic judgment, consistency, and self-review habits.
