BCT Community Science – Analyst

Accountabilities Research & evaluation: Support the design and execution of qualitative and quantitative research, including surveys, interviews, focus groups, literature reviews, document reviews, and other data collection activities.

Data analysis: Collect, organize, manage, clean, and analyze qualitative and quantitative data, using tools such as Excel, R, SPSS, or comparable research software to generate meaningful findings.

Stakeholder engagement: Conduct interviews and focus groups when appropriate, participate in client and project meetings, and support technical assistance, training, and capacity-building activities.

Analysis & synthesis: Interpret research findings, identify insights and patterns, and translate complex evidence into practical conclusions and recommendations.

Writing & visualization: Draft reports, memos, proposals, presentations, and technical documents, while developing charts, tables, infographics, and other visuals that communicate findings effectively to different audiences.

Project coordination: Manage assigned tasks and timelines across multiple projects, communicate progress and emerging needs proactively, and help project teams maintain high-quality, timely deliverables.

Proposal development: Contribute to proposals by coordinating activities, preparing materials, drafting content, and supporting polished submissions.

Team & organizational contribution: Collaborate across practice areas, contribute ideas and solutions, participate in professional development, and support approved internal initiatives while maintaining an approximately 85% project utilization target.

Requirements

Education: Bachelor’s degree in public health, public policy, sociology, psychology, education, social work, or a related social science discipline; a master’s degree is preferred.

Professional experience: At least 3 years of experience in research, evaluation, consulting, community engagement, capacity building, or a related field.

Research experience: Demonstrated experience collecting, organizing, managing, and analyzing qualitative and/or quantitative data, including experience with interviews, focus groups, surveys, or similar research activities.

Consulting/project experience: Ability to support multiple projects simultaneously, manage competing priorities and deadlines, and adapt to changing client and project needs.

Analytical skills: Strong critical thinking, problem-solving, research synthesis, and analytical capabilities, with the ability to turn data into actionable insights.

Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to prepare clear deliverables and tailor information for technical and non-technical audiences.

Technical proficiency: Strong Microsoft Office skills, particularly Word, Excel, and PowerPoint, plus familiarity with qualitative and/or quantitative analysis tools such as SPSS, R, NVivo, Dedoose, Stata, ArcGIS, Tableau, Power BI, Python, or similar platforms.

Working style: Comfortable working independently while communicating proactively with colleagues; highly organized, detail-oriented, collaborative, curious, adaptable, and committed to continuous learning.

Mission alignment: Genuine interest in using research, evaluation, and community engagement to address complex challenges and advance healthier, more just, and equitable communities.

Location & work authorization: Must be located within one of the 50 U.S. states or Washington, DC, and able to provide proof of authorization to work in the United States. The position may require occasional travel for client meetings, project activities, or community engagement.

Benefits

Base salary: $80,000–$85,000, with final compensation determined by factors including experience, skills, certifications, competencies, education, geographic location, and applicable labor-category requirements.
