Backend Systems Engineer

Your tasks

• Design, develop, maintain, and scale reliable backend APIs to support business and product requirements.
• Build and manage integrations with third-party APIs and external services.
• Lead backend infrastructure management and DevOps activities using AWS, ensuring system reliability, performance, and scalability.
• Design and deploy cloud-based systems capable of supporting operations across multiple geographies.
• Collaborate closely with founders, product managers, and engineering teams to translate business challenges into scalable technical solutions.
• Contribute to the growth and development of the technology team across DevOps, quality assurance, and software engineering.
• Establish and improve quality assurance, testing, and analytics frameworks to strengthen product quality and system performance.
• Take ownership of backend architecture and infrastructure decisions, helping shape the technical foundations for future growth.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of professional experience in backend engineering, systems development, or a related technical role.
• Strong proficiency in Python for backend development, including designing and maintaining scalable services and APIs.
• Hands-on experience with MongoDB or comparable NoSQL database technologies.
• Practical experience with AWS cloud services, backend infrastructure management, and DevOps practices.
• Proven ability to build, deploy, and maintain backend systems, with experience developing systems from scratch considered a strong advantage.
• Experience integrating third-party APIs and designing systems for scalability, reliability, and performance.
• Familiarity with testing methodologies, quality assurance processes, and analytics frameworks.
• Frontend development knowledge is an advantage, particularly for collaborating across the full technology stack.
• Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with the ability to connect business requirements to technical solutions.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills, with the initiative to take ownership, work effectively across teams, and contribute to technical decision-making.
• An interest in mentoring others, improving engineering practices, and growing into a leadership position as the organization scales.
