Backend Rust Engineer

Accountabilities: Design, develop, and maintain high-quality backend systems and distributed applications using Rust, ensuring performance, reliability, and scalability.

Architect and implement testable, efficient, and highly scalable code for observability workloads handling logs, metrics, and traces.

Analyse, debug, and enhance existing systems to improve performance, stability, and maintainability.

Identify, troubleshoot, and resolve complex production issues and software bugs in distributed environments.

Contribute to the design and improvement of database and storage systems, including SQL and analytics processing layers.

Collaborate with cross-functional engineers to build and optimize cloud-native, Kubernetes-based infrastructure.

Participate in shaping system architecture decisions, particularly around distributed systems and data processing pipelines.

Requirements:

5+ years of experience in software engineering, with strong exposure to distributed systems.

Proven hands-on experience with Rust for backend or systems-level development.

Strong understanding of low-level systems programming and performance optimization concepts.

Experience with databases, SQL, and data-intensive system design.

Familiarity with cloud infrastructure and Kubernetes-based environments.

Exposure to observability platforms or telemetry systems (logs, metrics, traces) is highly desirable.

Experience with building databases in Rust or working with Apache Arrow / DataFusion is a strong plus.

Strong problem-solving mindset with the ability to work independently in complex technical environments.

Degree in Computer Science or related field (or equivalent practical experience).
