Purchasing Engineer - Automotive Sector
Your tasks
Job Objective Manage purchasing activities related to investment projects, machinery, equipment, and tooling, ensuring compliance with budgets, commercial conditions, delivery times, and customer requirements. You will be responsible for coordinating the financial follow-up of projects, negotiating with suppliers, and maintaining effective communication with customers and international teams.
Main Responsibilities
- Manage the purchase of machinery, equipment, production lines, and tooling for investment projects (CAPEX).
- Request, analyze, and compare quotes, negotiating prices and commercial conditions with national and international suppliers.
- Follow up on budgets, investments, savings, and project execution.
- Monitor project cash flow, including advances, payments to suppliers, collections from customers, and fulfillment of financial milestones.
- Review customer purchase orders, validating amounts, scopes, advances, and payment terms.
- Coordinate with Finance and involved areas the follow-up of invoicing, payments, and collections.
- Manage customer and supplier claims related to quality, deliveries, costs, and compliance with agreements.
- Participate in RFQ processes and follow up on project schedules.
- Collaborate with Quality and Engineering areas in compliance with automotive requirements, including IATF 16949, APQP, and PPAP.
- Maintain constant communication and follow-up with international customers and suppliers.
Requirements
Indispensable Requirements
- Completed Bachelor's degree or Engineering in Administration, International Business, Industrial Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a related field.
- 3 to 5 years of experience in similar positions within the automotive sector.
- Verifiable experience in purchasing projects, machinery, equipment, tooling, or CAPEX investments.
- Knowledge and experience in supplier negotiation and cost reduction.
- Experience in following up on purchase orders, advances, payments, collections, and project cash flow.
- Knowledge of automotive quality standards and processes: IATF 16949, APQP, and PPAP.
- Knowledge of production lines, industrial equipment, and RFQ quoting processes.
- Advanced Business English, indispensable for participating in meetings, negotiations, and follow-up with international customers and suppliers.
- High negotiation capacity.
- Sense of urgency and results orientation.
- Organization and punctual follow-up of activities.
- Initiative and proactive attitude.
- Ability to anticipate risks and resolve critical situations.
- Ability to work with different areas and manage priorities.
