Primary Educator

Responsibilities:

Plan and deliver daily lessons. Prepare schemes of work, lesson plans, and teaching resources. Teach assigned primary classes/subjects. Assess learners through classwork, assignments, tests, and examinations. Record and monitor learners' academic progress. Manage classroom behaviour effectively. Identify learners who need additional academic support. Provide appropriate intervention and differentiated instruction. Maintain accurate learner records. Participate in staff meetings and professional development. Communicate appropriately with parents and guardians. Participate in school activities, clubs, events, and excursions where required. Maintain a safe and stimulating learning environment. Follow the school's curriculum, policies, and safeguarding procedures. Contribute to the overall academic and personal development of learners

Requirements:

Minimum of NCE, HND, or Bachelor's Degree in Education or a relevant subject. B.Ed., B.Sc. Ed., B.A. Ed., or B.A./B.Sc. with PGDE is an advantage. TRCN registration/licence or eligibility for registration is an advantage. Additional training in Montessori, Early Childhood/Primary Education, Special Needs Education, or Child Psychology is an advantage. A minimum of 2–3 years of classroom teaching experience is recommended. Experience teaching children at the primary-school level. Experience preparing lesson plans, assessments, schemes of work, and teaching resources. Experience working in a structured private-school environment is an advantage.

Teaching Skills The candidate should be able to: Prepare effective lesson plans and instructional materials. Deliver engaging and age-appropriate lessons. Teach core subjects such as English, Mathematics, Basic Science, Social Studies, Civic Education, and related primary subjects as required. Use different teaching methods to accommodate different learning abilities. Assess learners' academic progress. Keep accurate academic and behavioural records. Identify learners who require additional support. Use technology and digital resources to support learning. Encourage creativity, critical thinking, communication, and problem-solving. Prepare learners for internal and external assessments. Give constructive feedback to learners and parents.

Classroom Management The teacher should be able to: Maintain a safe, orderly, and positive classroom. Establish clear classroom rules and routines. Manage different learner personalities and abilities. Handle behavioural challenges professionally. Promote respect, cooperation, and good character. Use positive discipline rather than humiliating or intimidating learners. Ensure learners remain engaged during lessons.

Maintain confidentiality concerning learners and their families.
