Librarian
Responsibilities:
Manage the day-to-day operations of the school library. Maintain an organized, clean, and learner-friendly library. Issue and receive books and maintain borrowing records. Monitor overdue, damaged, and missing books. Develop reading programmes and activities for learners. Assist teachers in sourcing educational resources. Encourage learners to develop good reading habits. Regularly assess the library collection and recommend new resources. Prepare library reports and maintain accurate records. Ensure library rules and procedures are followed.
Requirements:
Minimum of HND or Bachelor’s Degree in: Library and Information Science, Library Science, Information Science, Education with Library/Information Science or A related field.
Professional certification or membership of a recognized library association is an added advantage. Minimum of 2–3 years’ experience as a school librarian or in a related library/information management role.
Experience working with children and young learners is an advantage.
Experience in cataloguing, classification, shelving, and library management.
Technical Skills:
The candidate should be able to:
Organize and maintain library resources.
Catalogue and classify books and other learning materials.
Keep accurate records of books and library users.
Use library management software and basic computer applications.
Conduct book searches and assist learners and teachers with research.
Maintain an up-to-date inventory of library resources.
Recommend suitable books and learning materials for different age groups.
