Position Description
This position is responsible for developing proprietary long term fundamental analysis of natural Gas and LNG markets, evaluating the implications for upstream supply and downstream demand. Key duties include developing and maintaining models using data from diverse sources, as well as assisting in the design, creation, testing, and refinement of econometric models that forecast supply and demand under various scenarios.

Key Role Responsibilities
Market Strategy & Analysis
- Develop and maintain bottoms-up long-term LNG market fundamental models, with a particular focus on market balances, clearing mechanisms and forecasting
- Support the development of market analytics adjacent to LNG, (e.g. upstream and downstream, cross commodity) as required.
- Contribute to the development of the Market Fundamentals group’s proprietary price view (mid to long-term forward curves) ensuring alignment with market fundamentals, in order to evaluate groups LNG portfolio assets
- Deliver strategic market outlooks as required by the strategy team
- Participate in the company’s strategy discussions by providing relevant analytics.
- Contribute to broader JERA view on gas and LNG markets.
- Mentor junior analysts and contribute to raising standards across the team.
- Support the organization of commercial information related to LNG origination and the trading industry, including exclusive internal information held by the group. This includes system development in collaboration with the IT department, and output generation.
Cross-functional Collaboration
- Work closely with Origination, Trading, and Legal teams to align commercial strategies and support negotiations.
- Provide ad-hoc analytical support to the broader Strategy & Analysis team on high-impact projects

Experience Required
Education:
- Advanced degree in a quantitative subject such as economics, engineering, sciences, mathematics, finance, or equivalent experience
Preferred Skills:
- At least seven years’ experience in gas, LNG, power or energy markets in a market fundamentals capacity. Experience in gas/LNG demand modelling in either the JKTC region or US Gas Markets is particularly valuable.
- Experience in LNG-to-power, infrastructure or value chain analysis is valuable
- Experience building forecasting models and long-term market outlooks.
- Translate complex datasets into clear, decision-useful insight.
- Strong quantitative and analytical skills, with advanced Excel capability. Proficiency in Python/SQL for data analytics is advantageous but not essential.
