This role sits within the wider EMEA support function, itself part of a globally distributed team. The successful candidate will play a critical role in ensuring the stability, performance, and reliability of both vendor-provided (e.g. Fidessa, ULLink) and in-house trading systems. While this position will initially focus on first-line support responsibilities, there will be strong collaboration with regional and global colleagues to resolve complex issues.
The position requires close interaction with trading desks, middle office teams, technology groups, and external vendors, demanding excellent communication skills and the ability to operate effectively in a fast-paced front-office environment.
Key Responsibilities & Tasks
Provide first-line production support for equities trading and middle office platforms across the Middle East region
Act as the primary contact for traders and business users, troubleshooting issues in real-time and ensuring minimal disruption to trading activity
Monitor system health, trade flows, and platform performance, identifying and resolving issues proactively
Support key vendor platforms including Fidessa and ULLink, as well as critical in-house systems
Liaise with external vendor support desks to escalate and manage incidents through to resolution
Work closely with second-line support, development teams, and global support counterparts to resolve complex technical issues
Analyse incidents and perform root cause investigations, documenting findings and recommending improvements
Assist with release cycles, system enhancements, and configuration changes where required
Maintain accurate records of incidents, issues, and resolutions in line with support procedures
Contribute to continuous improvement of support processes, monitoring, and documentation
Qualifications / Experience
Proven experience in a production support or application support role within an equities trading environment
Strong understanding of equities products, trade lifecycle, and market flows
Hands-on experience supporting front-office trading platforms and/or middle office systems
Familiarity with local MENA market rules, conventions, and processes a strong advantage
Familiarity with FIX messaging protocol, including troubleshooting and analysis, is essential
Experience working with vendor platforms such as Fidessa and/or ULLink is highly desirable
Experience working in a high-pressure, time-critical environment, ideally supporting live trading desks
Demonstrated ability to prioritise, troubleshoot, and resolve issues efficiently
Experience working within a global or multi-regional support model
Additional Skills
Strong problem-solving and analytical skills, with a proactive approach to issue resolution
Excellent communication skills, with the ability to engage effectively with both business users (traders, middle office) and technical teams
Collaborative mindset with the ability to work across regional and global teams
Ability to remain calm and effective under pressure, particularly during market hours
Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
Basic scripting or database knowledge (e.g. SQL) is beneficial but not essential
Willingness to work regionally aligned hours and provide support aligned to market needs
