M&E Engineer

Job Scope Interpret technical designs and drawings, give technical advice and help resolve issues that arise during construction.

Review project specifications, technical clarifications and construction drawings.

Check working drawings and identify discrepancies for resolution.

Coordinate with the architect, structural engineer, M&E consultant and vendors to resolve construction and installation issues.

Ensure site operations comply with the Project Quality Plan, covering quality, environmental and occupational health & safety.

Ensure proactive measures are adopted for quality, environmental and OHS issues.

Coordinate with the QAQC Engineer so project quality meets customer requirements.

Check quality of work against specification and requirements.

Maintain inspection records for works, materials and all completed works.

Take part in regular inspections with the QAQC team and complete basic safety training with the Safety team.

Assist with environmental aspects and impacts and other environmental issues relating to the EMS.

Liaise with the Consultant Representative on project matters.

Coordinate with the Project Manager on project matters.

Coordinate with all subcontractors on site and quality issues.

Ensure all contractual requirements comply with agreed procedures.

Track variations and claims, and their cost impact, and feed the information back to the Project Manager.

Implement cost control measures to meet the project budget, in consultation with the Project Manager.

Execute, monitor and ensure timely completion of the project.

Prepare site reports and present updates to stakeholders.

Ensure project compliance with relevant regulations, policies and standards.

Evaluate project outcomes, capture lessons learned and apply best practices to future projects.

Requirements BEng in Engineering, BArch in Architecture / built environment, BSc in Construction Management, or a similar field.

Degree in Civil / Building Engineering or another building-related discipline.

3–5 years' experience in building and construction projects.

Knowledge of computer operating systems, hardware and software.

Persistence, determination and initiative in finding solutions.

Thoroughness and attention to detail.

Good with numbers.

Strong presentation skills.

Excellent verbal communication skills; emotional intelligence a plus.

Composure under pressure and consistently meets deadlines with internal and external contacts.

Interacts effectively with management, team members and outside contacts.

Able to walk, stand, stretch, bend and kneel for prolonged periods.

Works well in a fast-paced, busy environment.
