Join us as R&D Sensory Analytics & R Development Intern at our international headquarters in Utrecht, starting in March 2027 . In this internship, you will work at the intersection of sensory science, statistics and programming, collaborating with both the Sensory & Consumer Science team and Science & Modelling experts. You will support the Sensory & Consumer Science team by renovating and enhancing a portfolio of R applications used for sensory data analysis. You will work with real sensory and consumer datasets while developing applications that are actively used by sensory scientists in R&D. You will have the opportunity to apply statistical concepts in practice, gain experience in analytical tool development, and contribute to digital solutions that support sensory research and product innovation. Your key activities will be: Improve and maintain existing R/Shiny applications used by sensory scientist globally Develop new analytical features based on scientists needs Develop automated reports and visualizations Build user-friendly interfaces for complex statistical analysis Test & validate the analytical tools Analyze data using statistical techniques Discover and contribute to the day to day of Sensory and Consumer Science teams at JDE Peet’s This is a unique opportunity to combine sensory science, statistics and coding in a collaborative R&D environment and to work on projects with real business impact. Are you bursting with fresh ideas and a hunger for learning? We want you! Here's what we're looking for: Academic Program: You are enrolled in a BSc or MSc program for the entirety of the internship, preferably in Data Science or Food Science or Sensory Science with a background in statistics. You are enrolled in a BSc or MSc program for the entirety of the internship, preferably in Statistics, Data Science or in Sensory Science with a background in statistics. Skillset: Good understanding in statistics and data analysis, Experience in programming in R; Exposure to Shiny application development is a plus Basic understanding of sensory or consumer research is a strong advantage Fluent proficiency in speaking and written English Personal traits: You have a structured approach, a driven and energetic personality, excellent communication and people skills, and the ability to work both in a team and independently. Commitment: You are ready to dedicate at least 5 months to this internship, preferably from March to August 2027 . Availability: You can join the internship for 5 days per week, including four days in-office and one day remotely, ensuring an ideal balance between collaboration and independence. While this is primarily a desk-based position, you may be required to work in the laboratory from time to time. Your educational institution is willing to sign a collaboration agreement with JDE Peet's and when joining our Research departments, also sign an NDA agreement for internships. You are either an EU(EEA) student residing in the Netherlands during the internship or a Non-EU(EEA) student enrolled and living in the Netherlands during the internship.
