Fashion Writer — ELLE Singapore

ELLE Singapore is looking for a Fashion Writer with a distinctive voice, sharp editorial instincts, and a strong understanding of fashion and culture. You’ll turn trends, runway developments, and potential emerging stories into engaging content that feels relevant to readers in Singapore.

This role suits a curious, resourceful writer who can balance creative storytelling with accurate reporting, meet deadlines, and bring fresh, exciting ideas to an editorial team.

What you’ll do

• Pitch and write fashion news, features, interviews, trend reports, and shopping stories for print and digital platforms.
• Cover local, regional, and international fashion, from emerging designers and homegrown labels to major fashion houses.
• Translate runway trends and industry developments into accessible stories with a clear editorial point of view.
• Research stories thoroughly, conduct interviews, and fact-check copy to maintain editorial accuracy.
• Work with editors and teammates to develop compelling fashion content.
• Adapt stories for digital audiences through engaging headlines, search-friendly copy, and social content.
• Produce short-form video content and assist with basic video editing when needed.
• Attend relevant launches, previews, fashion shows and industry events—both in Singapore and overseas.
• Build relationships with designers, brands, publicists, and other relevant industry contacts.
• Manage multiple assignments and deadlines while maintaining a consistent editorial voice.
• Contribute ideas for recurring columns, special issues, and editorial and commercial projects.

What you’ll bring

• Strong writing, editing and interviewing skills, with a portfolio of published work or relevant writing samples.
• A sound understanding of fashion, including designers, collections, fashion history, and the wider fashion and culture conversations shaping the industry.
• An eye for stories that resonate with readers in Singapore and Southeast Asia.
• The ability to write with personality, clarity, and accuracy across different formats.
• Familiarity with digital publishing, SEO and AEO, and social media.
• Excellent organisation, attention to detail and the confidence to work both independently and collaboratively.
• Relevant experience in fashion, lifestyle journalism or digital media. Applicants with a compelling portfolio and transferable editorial experience are also welcome.
