On behalf of our long-standing project partner Siemens Energy, IQ Intelligentes Ingenieur Management GmbH is looking for an experienced Senior Python Backend Engineer (m/f/d).

In this position, you will support the industrialization of AI-supported procurement applications within the AI Forge platform. A key part of the task is to transform rapidly developed AI prototypes into secure, scalable, maintainable, and production-ready enterprise applications.

Your Tasks

• Conception and development of scalable Python backend services and REST APIs
• Connection of backend services to frontend applications and enterprise platforms
• Conception and implementation of data processing pipelines for AI applications
• Transformation of prototypes into production-ready enterprise software
• Improvement of software architecture, maintainability, performance, and reliability
• Implementation of authentication, authorization, logging, monitoring, and error handling
• Ensuring high code quality through tests, code reviews, and modern engineering standards
• Creation of technical documentation and architectural guidelines
• Collaboration with Data Scientists, Frontend Developers, Product Owners, and Cloud Engineers

Your Technical Background

• At least 5 years of professional experience in Python backend development
• Very good knowledge of FastAPI or alternatively Flask
• Experience with asynchronous Python and object-oriented programming
• Knowledge of Clean Architecture and Domain-Driven Design
• Experience in developing REST APIs with OpenAPI or Swagger
• Knowledge of OAuth2 and JWT
• Experience with PostgreSQL, SQLAlchemy, and data modeling
• Very good understanding of Clean Code, Design Patterns, automated tests, performance optimization, and Production Debugging
• Experience with production-ready backend applications in cloud-native environments
• Experience in the modernization or industrialization of existing software solutions
• At least a completed vocational training or degree
• Business-fluent English skills in speaking and writing
• German skills are an advantage
• Experience in the field of AI and Data is an advantage

Experience in one or more of the following areas is desirable:

• Backend services for LLM applications
• Vector databases
• RAG architectures
• LangChain or LlamaIndex
• Document processing pipelines
• Integration of AI models via APIs

In-depth machine learning knowledge is not required.
