Interim Financial Director

A growing construction business in Wakefield is looking to appoint an experienced Interim Finance Director to provide hands-on financial leadership and support the directors through its next phase of growth.

This is a broad, operational role requiring someone who can take ownership of the day-to-day finance function, lead the existing team and provide commercial insight to support business decisions.

Key Responsibilities

• Take overall responsibility for the finance function and manage the existing finance team.
• Oversee cash flow, forecasting and working capital management.
• Provide accurate and timely management accounts and financial reporting.
• Support the directors with financial planning, commercial decisions and business strategy.
• Monitor project profitability, costs and margins.
• Strengthen financial controls, processes and reporting.
• Provide hands-on support across the finance function as required.

The Person

• Qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA or CIMA).
• Previous Finance Director or senior Financial Controller experience.
• Strong construction sector experience is highly desirable.
• Hands-on approach, comfortable leading from the front.
• Strong cash flow management and commercial finance skills.
• Confident supporting and challenging directors while managing a finance team.
