Trading Platform Application Engineer
We are seeking an experienced Trading Platform Application Engineer to support project delivery, application enhancements, production support, and integration activities for electronic trading platforms.
The successful candidate will work with vendor-based commercial trading and connectivity platforms supporting price discovery, trade execution, post-trade processing, and integration with brokers, trading venues, external counterparties, and internal applications .
Key Responsibilities
- Deliver application projects, enhancements, and change requests.
- Develop and maintain Java-based applications, services, and integrations .
- Develop automation scripts and operational tools to improve efficiency, reliability, and resiliency.
- Support application onboarding, configuration, testing, deployment, and production implementation.
- Troubleshoot application, connectivity, and production issues and perform root cause analysis.
- Support integrations with external counterparties, brokers, trading venues, and internal applications.
- Participate in production support, release deployment, and operational readiness activities.
- Support platform modernization, automation, monitoring, and resiliency initiatives.
- Collaborate with business users, application teams, infrastructure teams, vendors, and external counterparties.
- Maintain technical documentation, implementation guides, and operational procedures.
Mandatory Skills & Experience
- Minimum 4 years of hands-on software development and application support experience .
- Hands-on experience with FIX Protocol is mandatory .
- Strong proficiency in Java development for enterprise applications.
- Strong Linux/Unix administration and troubleshooting skills.
- Experience with shell scripting such as Bash, Korn Shell, Python , or equivalent.
- Experience developing and supporting high-throughput, distributed, scalable, and resilient applications .
- Strong understanding of application performance tuning and optimization.
- Proven experience troubleshooting production issues and conducting root cause analysis.
- Familiarity with relational databases and SQL .
- Experience with CI/CD pipelines, automated deployment, and application release management .
- Experience with application monitoring and environment management.
Trading & Financial Markets Experience
Candidates with experience in one or more of the following areas are preferred:
- Electronic Trading Platforms
- Treasury & Markets
- Foreign Exchange (FX)
- Fixed Income
- Equities
- Capital Markets
- Investment Banking
Experience with FIX 4.x / FIX 5.x , FIX engines, gateways, or electronic trading connectivity is highly relevant.
Candidates should also have experience with external connectivity and onboarding involving brokers, exchanges, trading venues, or other counterparties , as well as an understanding of trade execution, trade lifecycle, and post-trade workflows.
Additional Technical Skills
Experience with any of the following will be an advantage:
- Kafka, AMQ, MQ, or other messaging technologies
- REST APIs and microservices
- Monitoring and observability tools
- Commercial trading or connectivity platforms
