  • Experience with modularisation in a large, multi-module Android application maintained by multiple teams.
  • Jetpack Compose experience is valued, particularly integration into a predominantly View-based application.
  • Experience must extend beyond small applications or applications maintained by a single developer.

3. Concurrency and Memory Management

  • Strong experience with Coroutines, Flow, structured concurrency, dispatcher selection and cancellation.
  • Able to investigate main-thread contention and race conditions.
  • Able to diagnose context leaks and listener retention using heap analysis.

4. Platform Security

  • Hands-on experience with Android Keystore, encrypted local storage and BiometricPrompt, including handling biometric enrolment changes.
  • Knowledge of certificate pinning, permissions, scoped storage, and root or tamper signals.
  • Able to identify security risks and handle sensitive customer data appropriately.

5. Production Debugging and Device Compatibility

  • Experience diagnosing Application Not Responding (ANR) issues, UI jank, frame drops, slow startup and crashes.
  • Able to troubleshoot issues across different devices and Android OS versions.
  • Able to independently investigate customer-reported symptoms and identify root causes.

Strongly Preferred Experience

  • Delivering annual target API or Android SDK upgrades for a large production application, including behaviour changes such as edge-to-edge display and Google Play compliance requirements.
  • Implementing and troubleshooting Android App Links, custom URL schemes and Digital Asset Links verification.
  • Diagnosing behavioural differences caused by Android OS, target SDK, WebView or Chromium version changes, including identifying issues originating at the platform or WebView boundary.
  • Integrating native and web-based journeys, including WebView or hybrid content, deep-link entry into web journeys, and session and configuration handover.
  • Developing banking, financial services, fintech, wallet, or other secure, high-volume consumer applications.
  • Contributing to internal SDKs, design systems, or frameworks used by other teams.
  • Implementing mobile observability, crash reporting, and performance analytics.
  • Owning CI/CD pipelines or native test automation.
