testing, adjusting and balancing (tab) technician for heating, ventilating and air conditioning (hvac)
*International Quest Engineering Ltd. *(IQE) has an opportunity for an experienced Mechanical Designer (HVAC) with strong technical and drafting/modeling abilities to join our team. In this role, you will take the lead in the development, design, and drafting of mechanical building systems designs for commercial, multi-family, and heavy industrial projects for the wood-products, mining and energy sectors.
*Job Description*
This is a growth-oriented position with a variety of tasks ranging from design work in the office to field work at the job site. Your primary responsibility will be leading the CAD design of building mechanical systems, taking engineer concepts and markups through to construction-ready drawings including mechanical floor plans, ductwork layouts and sizing, hydronic and ventilation schematics, equipment schedules, and details, with minimal engineer rework.
The preferred candidate will be self-motivated, with a strong work ethic and focus on quality. The candidate must have 5+ years' experience in the HVAC field, plus the ability and desire to help establish IQE's HVAC drafting standards and mentor our existing designers into building mechanical work.
The candidate most likely to succeed in this role will have a demonstrated record of achievement based on them being:
- A self-starter, confident, results-focused
- Proactive, having a sense of urgency in responding to client requirements and deadlines
- An innovative problem solver with a strong technical background
*Qualifications:*
- 2-year technology diploma or equivalent
- 5+ years drafting HVAC or building mechanical systems
- Proficient in AutoCAD
- Revit proficiency would be a strong asset
- Working knowledge of BC Building Code and ASHRAE standards.
