Job Description & Requirements

A welder joins metal parts together using specialized equipment and high heat, ensuring accurate and safe connections for various applications like construction, manufacturing, and shipbuilding . They interpret blueprints, source materials, measure and cut metal, and complete welds according to specifications.

Key responsibilities of a welder include:

• Reading and interpreting blueprints: Understanding designs, specifications, and diagrams to determine the appropriate welding process.
• Operating welding equipment: Utilizing various welding techniques like MIG, TIG, and arc welding.
• Sourcing and preparing materials: Measuring, cutting, and preparing metal pieces for welding.
• Performing welding tasks: Joining metal parts with precision and accuracy.
• Inspecting welds: Ensuring structural integrity and quality.
• Maintaining equipment and tools: Ensuring proper functioning and safety.

Depending on the specific role and industry, welders may also be responsible for:

• Shaping and polishing metal after welding: Ensuring a smooth and polished finish.
