Senior Java Backend Developer Fully Remote

About the company

We're hiring a hands-on Senior Java Backend Developer to join our health tech clients Integrations team, building secure, reliable payment capabilities for their platform, a cloud-based SaaS platform used across the UK.

Your tasks

You'll design and deliver integrations with leading providers including Stripe, Dojo and Adyen, powering online payment links, card-present payments, and automated debt chasing.

• Build and maintain secure, resilient Java microservices and third-party integrations.
• Own services end to end: design, build, test, deploy, monitor and improve them in production.
• Shape technical decisions with Product, QA and your Team Lead.
• Coach junior developers and QA colleagues.

Requirements

• 5+ years' development experience in multi-disciplinary teams.
• Strong modern Java (ideally 17+) and extensive Spring/Spring Boot experience.
• RESTful API design plus third-party API and webhook integrations.
• Solid SQL/relational database skills.
• Cloud deployment and monitoring experience, plus CI/CD and automated testing.
• Microservices experience.

Bonus: Kubernetes, Docker, Redis, Terraform, React/TypeScript, or observability experience.

Other

Fully remote (UK) | £80,000-£85,000 + healthcare, pension, holiday etc

Tech stack Java 21 (moving to 25), Spring Boot, microservices, Azure, Kubernetes, Docker, Redis, Terraform, SQL Server, and React 18/TypeScript on the frontend.
