Our medical imaging solutions streamline information flow, simplify complex processes, maximize efficiency, and illuminate the unknown. We enable physicians to bring patients the answers they need faster and improve outcomes for everyone. Through more accessible imaging, we bring patients out of the dark.

Based in Raleigh, North Carolina, and Montreal, Intelerad has nearly 800 employees in offices across four countries. The company provides nearly 2,000 healthcare organizations worldwide with the speed, scalability, and simplicity needed to increase business performance while, above all, improving patient outcomes. Intelerad's modern enterprise solutions have been honored with the "Best in KLAS" award, ranking first in the "PACS Europe (UK/Ireland)" category of the 2026 "Best in KLAS: Global Software (Non-US)" report.

As a UX/UI Researcher and Designer at Intelerad, you will play a key role in evolving the user experience of our medical imaging solutions. You will be independently responsible for user research and design for one or more product sectors, collaborating closely with product managers, developers, and end users to transform complex clinical needs and business goals into intuitive, high-quality experiences, from initial discovery to launch.

You will bring a balanced skill set, supporting your design decisions with rigorous user research, transforming insights into effective and engaging interfaces, and contributing to the continuous improvement of UX practices within the team.

Main Responsibilities

User Research

  • Plan and lead autonomous qualitative and quantitative UX research activities throughout the product lifecycle. Use field studies, direct observation, interviews, task and workflow analysis, usability testing, and surveys to identify opportunities, validate hypotheses, and guide product decisions.
  • Define research priorities and methodologies for your product sector in collaboration with the product management team; recruit participants and facilitate sessions with clinicians and other end users.
  • Synthesize research data into personas, user journey maps, and actionable insights, then transform findings into design and product recommendations that influence roadmap decisions.
  • Ensure the management and evolution of the research repository so that findings remain accessible and continue to fuel current and future work.

Design

  • Lead the design of intuitive interfaces from ideation to launch, drawing on a deep understanding of user goals, clinical workflows, and product requirements. Create screen mockups, interaction models, and interface elements that meet usability standards and business objectives.
  • Take ownership of the entire design process: produce wireframes, storyboards, interactive prototypes, and detailed specifications that allow developers, QA analysts, and technical writers to clearly understand design intentions.
  • Foster the creation and adoption of design standards to ensure consistency across the entire product suite and support developers in design-related decisions and trade-offs for the user interface.

Communication and Collaboration

  • Establish relationships of trust with users through empathy, active listening, and strong facilitation skills to deeply understand their goals, workflows, and challenges.
  • Clearly present research findings and design concepts to various audiences, ranging from engineering teams to product leaders, and facilitate critical review sessions to ensure alignment and quality of deliverables.
  • Mentor and advise less experienced UX designers and researchers by sharing methods, tools, and best practices.

Qualifications and Experience

  • Bachelor's degree in Human-Computer Interaction (HCI), User Experience (UX), Interaction Design, Human Factors/Ergonomics, Psychology, Graphic Design, or equivalent experience.
  • Minimum of 4 years of experience in UX/UI design and UX research, with a portfolio demonstrating both strong web and mobile design skills as well as comprehensive user research experience.
  • Proficiency in industry-standard design tools, including Figma and/or the Adobe Creative Cloud suite (Photoshop, Illustrator, XD, or equivalent).
  • Demonstrated expertise in creating wireframes, prototypes, and detailed design specifications.
  • Demonstrated experience in planning and independently conducting user research activities using qualitative and quantitative methods, as well as synthesizing results into personas, user journeys, and actionable insights.
  • Familiarity with UX research tools and repositories such as Dovetail, UserZoom, Optimal Workshop, or similar solutions.
  • Excellent knowledge of Human-Computer Interaction (HCI) principles and user-centered design best practices.
  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate design decisions and research findings to both technical and non-technical audiences, including executive-level stakeholders.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills in English or equivalent.

Preferred Qualifications and Special Requirements

  • Experience in prototyping with HTML, CSS, or similar front-end tools.
  • Experience in the health information technology or complex enterprise software field; experience conducting research with clinicians or healthcare sector users.
  • Familiarity with accessibility standards (WCAG) and inclusive design principles.
  • Knowledge of survey design and basic statistical analysis.
  • Experience in Agile development environments.
  • Experience in mentoring or informal coaching of UX designers or researchers.
  • No direct supervision responsibilities.
