Your tasks

The BMC Helix Discovery AMS Consultant provides post-implementation operational, administrative, and continuous-improvement services for BMC Helix Discovery environments. The consultant manages incidents, problems, changes, releases, upgrades, integrations, data quality, service modeling, and secure discovery operations across hybrid and multi-cloud estates. The role requires strong customer-facing ownership and the ability to work across BMC, partner, infrastructure, network, security, cloud, CMDB, and application teams.

  • Provide L2/L3 operational support for BMC Helix Discovery in line with agreed SLAs, availability targets, security controls, and support procedures.
  • Administer BMC Helix Discovery SaaS and/or on-premises environments, including clusters, users, roles, schedules, scopes, credentials, proxies, integrations, and platform configuration.
  • Monitor discovery health, scan coverage, queue performance, datastore/platform capacity, pattern execution, reconciliation, synchronization, and overall data quality.
  • Plan, install, register, configure, upgrade, troubleshoot, and decommission BMC Discovery Outposts across segmented networks, data centers, and public-cloud environments.
  • Manage Outpost connectivity, HTTPS communication, service registration, auto-update status, IP ranges, excluded ranges, overlapping-address scopes, credential vaults, certificates, proxy settings, ports, logs, and Outpost-to-instance routing.
  • Design and optimize scheduled and snapshot discovery runs, scan windows, pool allocation, range partitioning, credential selection, and performance to minimize business and network impact.
  • Troubleshoot discovery access and connectivity across Windows, Linux/UNIX, network devices, virtualization platforms, storage, databases, middleware, containers, and cloud services using supported access methods and logs.
  • Maintain and improve credential governance, including least-privilege access, secret rotation, credential testing, vault hygiene, and coordination with enterprise password-vault or PAM teams.
  • Develop, test, version, deploy, and troubleshoot Technology Knowledge Update (TKU) content, Technology Knowledge Patterns (TPL), custom patterns, taxonomy extensions, and discovery extensions.
  • Perform application and service modeling using collaborative application mapping, rules, manual models, and service blueprints; maintain accurate relationships and service context for downstream AIOps and impact analysis.
  • Manage BMC Helix CMDB synchronization, mappings, filters, dataset/reconciliation dependencies, synchronization status, failures, and CI/relationship data quality.
  • Integrate Discovery with BMC Helix ITSM/CMDB, BMC Helix AIOps, BMC Helix Operations Management, BMC Helix Dashboards, REST APIs, export APIs, and approved third-party platforms.
  • Plan and execute patches, platform upgrades, TKU updates, feature adoption, regression validation, rollback readiness, and post-change verification.
  • Create operational dashboards, queries, reports, coverage metrics, exception reports, and service-review insights covering discovered estate, data quality, scan success, aging, and synchronization health.
  • Drive problem management and continuous service improvement by identifying recurring coverage gaps, access failures, performance bottlenecks, obsolete patterns, duplicate data, and automation opportunities.
  • Prepare and maintain runbooks, SOPs, architecture/configuration records, knowledge articles, support handover documents, risk logs, and audit evidence.
  • Lead technical discussions with customers and internal stakeholders, provide clear RCA and recovery plans, transfer knowledge, and support service reviews and improvement roadmaps.
  • Participate in shift, weekend, and on-call support when required.
