Sales & Purchase (Fleet), Deputy GM/ Snr Manager
We are looking for an experienced S&P, DGM/ Senior Manager to spearhead fleet development, newbuilding strategy, and vessel procurement activities for one of our global shipping clients. He/ she will lead medium to long-term fleet development and newbuilding strategies of the company. The ideal candidate should have strong shipping industry knowledge with commercial acumen, financial analysis capabilities, and exceptional negotiation skills with strong experience in vessel procurement, Sale & Purchase (S&P), shipbuilding and shipyard negotiations. Key Responsibilities Manage the full newbuilding procurement lifecycle, from market assessment and project evaluation through contract negotiation and vessel delivery. Lead commercial negotiations with major international shipyards and maintain strategic shipyard relationships. Evaluate vessel investment opportunities through financial modelling, profitability analysis, feasibility studies, and business cases. Monitor global shipbuilding markets, vessel pricing, capacity, construction trends, and commercial terms to identify opportunities and secure competitive outcomes. Coordinate internal and external stakeholders across procurement and newbuilding projects, ensuring alignment on budget, specifications, commercial objectives, and delivery timelines. Work closely with management, shipyards, brokers, technical teams, financial institutions, and other maritime partners to ensure successful vessel delivery. Provide senior management with market intelligence and strategic recommendations on fleet expansion, acquisitions, and shipbuilding opportunities. Requirements Bachelor’s degree in Business, Maritime Studies, Shipping, Finance, Engineering, or a related discipline. 10+ years’ relevant experience with a shipowner, shipping company, shipbroker, shipbuilder or related maritime/trading organization. Proven track record in vessel procurement, newbuilding and S&P transactions. Extensive shipyard and shipbuilding project experience, ideally with significant exposure to the Chinese shipbuilding market. Excellent negotiation, stakeholder management, and relationship-building skills, with the ability to operate effectively at senior management level. Strong commercial and financial acumen, with the ability to assess vessel investments, project economics, and profitability. Strong proficiency in Microsoft Office, particularly Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.
