About the company Founded in 2017, Infinite Orbits is a NewSpace company based in Toulouse. It pushes the boundaries of in-orbit services through cutting-edge spacecraft powered by its own space rendezvous solution, an advanced autonomous vision-based navigation solution. Infinite Orbits develops two generations of missions:
- « Orbit Guard »: provides space inspection and surveillance services (SSA) in geostationary orbit (GEO). Our first mission, OG-1, was launched on May 1, 2023; the second will be launched in 2025 and the third in 2026.
- « Endurance »: is a docking service capable of extending the lifespan of telecommunication satellites in GEO, by supporting their attitude and orbit control (SCAO/AOCS) for 5 years.
About the position We are looking for a 3D Designer to join our team for a 12-month contract. You will be responsible for creating photorealistic 3D assets of satellites from CAD files and reference images, intended to be integrated into our internal space simulation environment.
Job description
- 3D modeling of target satellites and space objects in Houdini and Unreal Engine, ensuring that each new asset integrated into the RDV simulator is geometrically faithful and representative of the actual spacecraft,
- Definition and implementation of material properties (roughness, metallicity, reflectance) for each satellite, to guarantee a physically realistic rendering of surfaces under space lighting conditions,
- Development and improvement of BRDF (Bidirectional Reflectance Distribution Function) models of satellite surfaces in collaboration with optical engineers. This includes reproducing the anisotropic and specular behaviors of real spacecraft materials to improve the realism of datasets intended for computer vision and the training of artificial intelligence systems.
Profile sought
- Experience with 3D modeling software such as Blender, 3ds Max or Maya.
- Experience in shader creation and photorealistic rendering.
- Good understanding of graphic optimization and 3D asset production pipelines.
- Proficiency in 3D engines such as Unreal Engine or Unity3D.
- Strong sense of initiative, curiosity, and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication skills and proficiency in English.
What we offer
- The opportunity to join an international team transforming the space industry.
- A creative and innovative working environment where ideas become reality.
- A competitive salary and social benefits.
