The Hybrid/EV Technician is responsible for the safe diagnosis, maintenance and repair of hybrid and electric vehicles serviced by ProAMS. The role requires strong hands-on competence in high-voltage systems, battery systems, power electronics, electric drive systems and advanced vehicle diagnostics. The Technician will also support ProAMS in developing its hybrid/EV capability and transferring technical knowledge to Nigerian technicians.

Hybrid/EV Diagnosis and Repair

  • Diagnose, service and repair hybrid and battery-electric vehicle systems using approved technical procedures.
  • Diagnose high-voltage battery, inverter/converter, DC-DC converter, electric motor/generator, charging and thermal-management faults.
  • Perform systematic electrical/electronic fault finding using scan tools, digital multimeters, insulation-resistance testing equipment and other approved diagnostic tools.
  • Interpret diagnostic trouble codes, live data, wiring diagrams, service information and manufacturer procedures.
  • Perform battery condition/health assessments and identify module, cell, cooling or control-system faults where applicable.
  • Diagnose isolation faults, charging faults, interlock faults and communication/network-related issues.
  • Verify completed repairs through scanning, functional checks, testing and road testing where applicable.

High-Voltage Safety

  • Strictly follow high-voltage isolation, lockout/tagout and verification procedures before working on HV systems.
  • Use appropriate insulated tools, PPE and test equipment for high-voltage work.
  • Establish and maintain safe work zones during high-voltage service.
  • Ensure HV batteries/components are handled and stored safely.
  • Immediately report unsafe conditions, damaged high-voltage components or safety incidents.
  • Support development and enforcement of ProAMS hybrid/EV emergency and high-voltage safety procedures.

Charging Systems and EV Equipment

  • Diagnose vehicle-side AC/DC charging faults and related communication/control issues.
  • Inspect and test onboard chargers, charging ports, cables and associated vehicle components where applicable.
  • Assist with technical evaluation and safe use of EV workshop charging and diagnostic equipment.
  • Support ProAMS personnel in understanding safe EV charging and vehicle handling procedures.

Quality Control and Documentation

  • Complete repair orders and diagnostic records accurately, including findings, test results and repairs performed.
  • Ensure hybrid/EV repairs meet ProAMS quality standards before vehicle release.
  • Report repeat faults or unusual failures and assist with root-cause analysis.
  • Maintain records of high-voltage isolation, testing and safety procedures where required.

Workshop Support

  • Support the Workshop Manager and technicians on complex electrical/electronic and hybrid/EV cases.
  • Assist Service Advisors with technical explanations where required.
  • Coordinate with Parts personnel to identify correct hybrid/EV components and reduce unnecessary parts replacement.
  • Maintain hybrid/EV tools, PPE, diagnostic equipment and assigned work areas in proper condition.

Strategic Responsibilities During Start-Up

  • Assist ProAMS in establishing a safe and professional hybrid/EV service capability.
  • Review and recommend hybrid/EV diagnostic tools, insulated tools, PPE, battery-handling equipment and specialist resources.
  • Assist in developing hybrid/EV SOPs, safety procedures, inspection checklists and diagnostic workflows.
  • Advise the Workshop Manager and Management on safe workshop zoning and requirements for high-voltage work.
  • Support evaluation of ProAMS readiness to service different hybrid/EV models and recommend capability limits where appropriate.
  • Help establish technical standards that prevent unsafe work, misdiagnosis and unnecessary replacement of expensive components.

Training and Knowledge Transfer

  • Actively train and mentor Nigerian technicians in hybrid/EV fundamentals and safe working practices.
  • Provide structured practical coaching on high-voltage awareness, isolation procedures, diagnostics and component identification.
  • Conduct or support regular hybrid/EV technical and safety training sessions.
  • Develop or contribute to internal technical reference materials, checklists and training content.
  • Promote knowledge retention within ProAMS rather than dependence on a single specialist.

Management and Technical Reporting

  • Report significant hybrid/EV faults, safety concerns and technical findings to the Workshop Manager.
  • Provide recommendations regarding tools, equipment, PPE, training and technical resources.
  • Report battery/high-voltage component conditions requiring special handling or replacement.
  • Provide periodic updates on hybrid/EV jobs, recurring faults, training activities and capability-development needs.
