ART DIRECTOR — META PACIFIC

Full-Time | Bali

Meta Pacific is an immersive content studio working across real estate, hospitality, tourism and luxury experiences.

We create and manage visual ecosystems combining video, FPV, drone, photography, virtual tours, motion design, social content and digital experiences.

We are now looking for an Art Director to take ownership of our visual direction and help us build a stronger, more consistent and scalable creative identity.

THIS IS NOT A GRAPHIC DESIGNER POSITION

We are not looking for someone who simply receives a design brief and executes it.

We are looking for someone who can define the visual direction in the first place, translate it into clear creative decisions, and guide a production team through execution.

Graphic design skills are required, but this role goes significantly beyond graphic design.

YOUR ROLE

You will work directly with the founder and lead the creative direction across Meta Pacific projects and selected client accounts.

You will be expected to:

  • Define creative concepts and visual directions from business objectives, briefs or existing assets.
  • Create moodboards, visual systems, references and clear production guidelines.
  • Direct photography, video, editing, motion design and graphic execution.
  • Turn creative ideas into precise briefs that photographers, editors and motion designers can execute.
  • Review work, identify what is not working and provide actionable creative feedback.
  • Maintain consistency across video, photography, social media, motion design, websites, landing pages and other visual touchpoints.
  • Help elevate real-world content into premium visual communication.
  • Develop creative standards, templates and systems that make the team more autonomous and consistent.
  • Work with our production team while remaining hands-on when needed.

You do not need to be the strongest video editor or motion designer in the room, but you must understand these disciplines well enough to direct them.

WHAT WE ARE LOOKING FOR

We are looking for someone with:

  • Strong Art Direction experience.
  • Excellent visual culture and taste.
  • Strong graphic design fundamentals.
  • A solid understanding of photography and video.
  • Understanding of editing, motion design and visual storytelling.
  • Ability to work across several media instead of only static design.
  • Ability to transform strategy or an abstract idea into a concrete visual system.
  • Ability to communicate creative feedback clearly and precisely.
  • Experience directing other creatives or production teams.
  • Strong attention to detail and consistency.
  • Ability to work with real-world assets and constraints.

Experience with Adobe Creative Suite, Figma and After Effects is highly valued.

Experience in hospitality, real estate, architecture, luxury, travel or lifestyle content is a plus.

IMPORTANT

We care less about beautiful theoretical moodboards and more about your ability to transform real content into strong creative work.

A villa, hotel, yacht, property or destination will not always arrive with perfect footage, perfect branding or a perfect brief.

Your role is to understand what is available, identify what needs to change and build a creative direction capable of producing a premium final result.

HOW TO APPLY

Please submit:

1. Your Portfolio Select work that best demonstrates your ability to create and maintain a strong visual direction across different media.

2. One Creative Direction Case Study Show us one real project where you started from an existing brand, product, location, initial brief or raw content and helped transform its visual direction.

We want to understand the thinking and decisions behind the final result — not only see the final images.

APPLICATION REFERENCES — WHAT WE EXPECT

1. PORTFOLIO

Please send your portfolio and select approximately 3 projects that best represent your work as an Art Director.

We are particularly interested in projects combining several visual disciplines such as:

  • Photography
  • Video
  • Graphic Design
  • Motion Design
  • Social Media
  • Branding
  • Digital / Website
  • Campaign Content

We are not looking only for polished logos, brand books or isolated graphic design pieces.

We want to see whether you can build a consistent visual universe across multiple formats.

For collaborative projects, please clearly indicate your personal role.

2. CREATIVE DIRECTION CASE STUDY

Please choose one real project that clearly demonstrates your ability to create or significantly improve a visual direction.

This presentation does not need to be long or overly designed.

We are much more interested in understanding your creative thinking, decision-making and impact.

Please show:

A. WHAT YOU RECEIVED

Show the starting point.

For example:

  • Original brand identity
  • Existing social media
  • Existing photography or video
  • Raw footage
  • Initial website
  • Client brief
  • Existing campaign
  • Product or location
  • Previous creative direction

We want to understand what the situation looked like before your involvement.

B. WHAT YOU IDENTIFIED

Explain briefly what you believed needed to change.

For example:

  • Lack of consistency
  • Weak visual hierarchy
  • Wrong positioning
  • Poor photography direction
  • Generic content
  • Inconsistent colors or typography
  • Weak storytelling
  • Lack of premium perception
  • Disconnect between different media

C. YOUR CREATIVE DIRECTION

Show how you decided to solve the problem.

This can include:

  • Moodboards
  • Visual references
  • Color direction
  • Typography
  • Photography direction
  • Shot references
  • Framing
  • Lighting
  • Editing direction
  • Motion design
  • Graphic systems
  • Social media direction
  • Website direction
  • Storytelling
  • Content structure

The objective is to understand why you made those decisions, not simply what the final design looked like.

D. HOW IT WAS EXECUTED

Show how the creative direction was translated into actual production.

For example:

Creative Direction → Shoot → Editing → Motion → Graphics → Social / Website / Campaign

Explain how you worked with other members of the team and how you ensured the final production stayed aligned with the original direction.

E. BEFORE / AFTER

Whenever possible, show a clear comparison between:

Before your involvement → After your creative direction

This can be done through photos, videos, social media feeds, website screenshots, campaigns or other relevant materials.

F. YOUR EXACT CONTRIBUTION

This is very important.

Please clearly specify:

What you personally created. What you personally directed. What was executed by another designer, photographer, videographer, editor or team member.

We are evaluating your ability to lead creative work, not simply whether you participated in a successful project.

The case study can be submitted as a PDF, presentation, Notion page, website page or another simple visual format.
