*Job Overview*
We are seeking a skilled, detail-oriented "Machinist" to join our growing manufacturing operations team in Calgary. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up, programming, and operating CNC machines to produce precision metal and/or composite components according to technical blueprints and specifications.
The ideal candidate has a strong background in machining, a commitment to workplace safety and quality control, and the ability to work independently as well as collaboratively in a fast-paced shop environment.
*RESPONSIBILITIES *
- Operate and set up CNC machines including CNC lathes and milling machines to produce precision components.
- Read and interpret blueprints and technical drawings accurately.
- Program CNC equipment using Fanuc controls.
- Perform routine daily maintenance and preventative care on CNC equipment. Maintain a clean, organized work area and strictly adhere to all company safety protocols and standards work practices.
- Use hand tools and power tools for assembly and finishing tasks.
- Collaborate with engineering teams to improve manufacturing processes.
- Ensure all parts meet quality specifications through inspection with calipers and other measurement tools.
- Diagnose and resolve basic mechanical or programming issues during production runs, minimizing downtime and scrap rates.
- Follow all company health and safety policies and report hazards, unsafe conditions, or incidents immediately.
- Provide occasional backup support for company delivery runs when needed.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
*KNOWLEDGE AND SKILL REQUIREMENTS*
*REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS*
- Minimum of 2?4 years of hands-on experience programming, setting up, and operating CNC machines in a manufacturing environment.
- Journeyman Machinist certification, apprentice, Machinist Technician Certificate, Precision Machining, or a related trade.
- Proficiency in reading blueprints, schematics, and technical drawings.
- Proficiency with Fanuc G-Code controls is highly desirable.
- Familiarity with SolidWorks or CAD is an asset.
- Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team.
- Commitment to safety standards in a manufacturing environment.
- Strong communication, teamwork, and organizational skills.
*PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS*
- Experience working in a sheet metal or manufacturing environment.
- Experience operating CNC or manual press brake machines.
- Experience working with fabrication equipment such as grinders, deburring tools, or cutting machines.
- Experience with packing, material handling, and preparing fabricated metal parts for shipment.
- Ability to safely operate forklifts and follow workplace safety procedures in a manufacturing environment.
